Data Architect

We are seeking a proficient Data Architect to join our team and provide expert guidance in managing and optimizing our Azure based data lake solution. Our aim is to develop innovative, technology solutions that aid our sustainability practice. This position will provide you with the opportunity to grow and learn from professionals in diverse fields, making this role intellectually stimulating and challenging. The successful candidate will be working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams that includes environmental scientists, biologists, chemists, engineers, public policy experts, and more. As a Data Architect, you will shape the overall data architecture and direction of our knowledge products, delivering data solutions aligned with business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of sustainable data architecture solutions, considering factors such as discoverability, impact, scalability, performance, integrity, and security.
  • Partner with product managers, stakeholders, and data engineers to define and prioritize data and technology requirements ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Design and implement data engineering solutions including ELT processes, data pipelines, databases, data catalogs, dashboards, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Ideate and select appropriate technologies, approaches, and tools to be used in the development process, considering factors such as scalability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish data architectural standards, best practices, and guidelines to ensure engagement, consistency and quality across teams.
  • Perform exploratory data engineering work to help consulting teams ideate solutions and understand the value of advanced analytics approaches.
  • Provide data-related guidance and mentoring to consultants and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges, ensuring successful delivery of high-quality data solutions.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices, proactively recommending innovations to enhance our data management processes.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in data management, with a focus on data architecture or data engineering, coupled with technical leadership.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing complex, scalable, and high-performance data architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling methodologies, architectural patterns and data management best practices.
  • Proficiency in a variety of technologies and tools for managing databases and data quality, with the ability to select the most suitable ones for specific project requirements.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to tackle technical challenges effectively.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, able to efficiently collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
