Job purpose PHINIA is currently seeking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to serve as Data Governance Lead for our global data governance initiative within PHINIA Aftermarket.
As a Data Governance Lead at PHINIA Aftermarket, you will be responsible for spearheading the global development and implementation of comprehensive data governance strategies and frameworks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the regions to establish policies, processes, and controls that ensure the integrity, quality, and security of our data assets, driving informed decision-making and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Data Governance Leadership: In a virtual team setup, lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent and effective management of data assets globally.
  • Data Governance Strategy: Develop and champion the vision, mission, and objectives of the data governance program, aligning them with organizational goals and priorities together with key stakeholders across departments and regions.
  • Policy and Process Development: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure consistent and effective management of data assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Data Owner Oversight: Define roles and responsibilities for data owners, providing guidance and support to ensure accountability and ownership of data quality and integrity.
  • Data Quality Management: Implement mechanisms for monitoring and improving data quality, including data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation processes.
  • Data Security and Privacy: Collaborate with information security and compliance teams to establish data security controls, access policies, and privacy safeguards in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Change Management and Communication: Drive awareness and adoption of data governance principles and best practices across the organization through training programs, workshops, and communication campaigns.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks related to data governance, including data breaches, data quality issues, and regulatory non-compliance, and implement mitigation strategies accordingly.
  • Vendor and Partner Collaboration: Collaborate with third-party vendors and partners to ensure alignment with data governance standards and contractual obligations, conducting regular assessments and audits as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the field of data governance, and lead initiatives to enhance and evolve the data governance program over time.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, with a strong understanding of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
  • Good understanding of data architecture, database design, and data modelling concepts.
  • Solid knowledge of data quality management, metadata management, and data security concepts, as well as regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to drive change and foster collaboration in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, CIPP) would be advantageous.

  • Demonstrated business acumen & ability to stay ahead of and incorporate innovative new technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to balance long-term ("big-picture") and short-term implications of architecture decisions
  • Experience in leading cross-functional / cross-regional initiatives with focus on driving results
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral). Ability to explain in business-friendly terms complex and technical details
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal
  • Dealing with Ambiguity and consensus building
  • Foster teamwork and collaborative problem solving
