Overview of the role:

We have an exciting new role in our Data Technology Delivery Team for a Head of Data Engineering, Reporting Ecosystem. You will lead engineering managers and a team of professionals in building our next-generation data platform, using modern technologies and techniques to maximize the value out of our data assets and empower employees to innovate.

You’ll be reporting into the Director of Data Tech Delivery in a team who all share a passion for our products and understanding of our customers behaviour.

You are accountable for developing and maintaining the Reporting Ecosystem data domain within the Data team, providing trusted datasets to enable decision making to support customer activities. This includes creating the right culture to enable a high performing data engineering team and collaborating with 3rd party development partners. You’ll also focus on the long-term vision for the Data Tech Delivery unit to ensure the product meets the ongoing needs of the business.

What you’ll do:

• Leading the day-to-day team to achieve expected results.

• You will be supporting and leading a group of engineering managers in their technical and personal development.

• You will act as their primary point of contact, providing them regular feedback and guidance.

• You need to care deeply about the people you lead, coaching them on areas for development, celebrating their achievements and recognising their strengths.

• Communicating your team’s goals and vision, and how these relate to the wider organisation.

• You will also take part in a range of activities to improve the wider department, including recruitment, mentoring, and evolving our development practices.

• You will possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and a drive to make that a reality.

• You’ll develop and implement the data team strategy.

• Provide technology assessment and accommodation to complex business problems, leverage current and newly created Data Platform to provide strategic solutions to the business.

• Effectively business partnership with Data product Owners.

• Adopt Agile ways of working and keep up to date with best practices and latest trends encouraging and leading by example within the team.

• You will be required to review and assess program objectives, key results, and success measurements for your team.

What you’ll bring:

• Significant strategic exposure working with senior stakeholders.

• Strong communication skills working across teams. You will be required to easily communicate with both technical and non-technical team members.

• Experience of delivering large scale programmes and change management within a team.

• You will ideally have experience in coding and structured\semi-structured\unstructured data environments.

• You will have relevant leadership experience managing development managers and teams

• Experience building data products, on the Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources is an advantage.

• Experience with a Data Warehouse technology and relevant data modelling is a plus. Processing substantial amounts of data, in various formats and processing data in batch mode and streaming mode.

• You will ideally have hands-on experience with automation and deployment.

• Engineering experience in technologies and stacks that are relevant for Data Solutions.
