Introduction to Role:

Are you ready to leverage technology to impact patients and ultimately save lives? We are seeking a Product Engineer for our Global Medical team. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, testing, deployment, and operations for data products and solutions supporting Medical Affairs teams. You will provide technical leadership to the data engineering team, interact with IT business partners to align with business strategy and translate the business needs into technical solutions.

Accountabilities:

As a Product Engineer, you will lead design, development, testing, deployment and operations for data products and solutions supporting Medical Affairs team. You will maintain deep working knowledge of data products serving Medical Affairs teams, their data lineage, business rules, KPIs, Usage and operations. You will collaborate with Global Capability, Business Engagement, Delivery and Platform teams to drive best customer experience and outcomes when delivering data products. You will ensure data products adhere to best practices and AZ architecture standards and strategy.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Prior experience in an Information Services/Information Technology environment with good business acumen

  • 3-5 years of experience with building AWS or Azure cloud-based data pipelines

  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience with Python and Spark

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience with ETL, building complex data models/pipelines/products

  • Expertise in Continuous Integration and Deployment methods delivered as part of an agile team

  • Evidence of designing, shaping, and implementing innovative solutions and driving change

  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information in business-friendly language

  • A broad understanding of cloud architecture

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work within both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies

  • Proven experience of managing and coaching/mentoring junior engineers

  • Proven experience of developing and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Experience working in a global organization with a complex geographical structure

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working in Databricks / Snowflake platform

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical Medical Affairs Function

  • Prior experience working in Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry IT environment

  • Experience with IQVIA Claims, National and subnational sales data

  • Experience working within a DevOps delivery model

  • Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures, and guidelines
