Operational Risk Data Analyst

YOUR ROLE
As a Risk team member, you'll work with cross-functional teams to understand the risks that face our company and execute risk management strategies that enable we’re there for our customers and their families – now and in the future. In this role, you will utilize business knowledge of Operational processes to research data incidents, understand impact, requirements of notification to those impacted and requirements from a regulatory perspective. You will be responsible for interacting with leaders of all levels in the company so written skills and verbal communication skills are important. Also in this role, you will be dealing with situations that require extreme confidentiality and professionalism.
What you will be doing
- Develop and maintain active relationships with department leadership to ensure open and ongoing dialogues pertaining to potential and known Operational Risk for the respective areas
- Provide strong communication and risk assessment capabilities for the team
- Manage Data Incident Response process/mailbox
- Interact with Department of Insurance for States as well as other Governmental Agencies when incidents occur
- Manage relationships with Third Parties for Data Incident Response process
- Generate metrics associated with data incidents and provide training to associates when needed
- Review State and Federal regulations to ensure the Data Incident Response process remains compliant
- Review and update Standard Operating Procedure as necessary
- Manage complex Operational Risk review projects from initial stages through the implementation of new corrective actions
- Monitor operating practices or gaps in procedures and implements controls to reduce risk and enhance process integrity
- Provide consulting services on matters related to control failures and mitigating operational risk
- Advise departments on best practices and most efficient means to implement them
- Initiate and lead discussion with leadership, communicating Operational Risk initiatives, and risk avoidance topics
- Maintain and drive continuous improvement of enterprise-wide risk reporting, dashboards, heat maps to be utilized with the Board, senior management, the businesses and various external constituents
- Work with the business platforms to incorporate risk considerations into business level IT and Security Risk reporting and tracking
- Monitor and report risk exposure in the business lines and provides input on risk triggers, limits and actions
- Support a culture of independent risk reporting and oversight
What you bring
- Bachelor’s preferred but not required
- 3+ years insurance experience
- Service/Claims expertise in transaction processing, project management
- High degree of self-confidence
- Demonstrates utmost integrity and maintains confidentiality
- Ability to drive clear, value-added results
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve complex issues with multiple, often conflicting, requirements
- Strong communicator – verbal, written, formal and informal
- Comfortable enforcing standards and effectively challenging processes and people
- Demonstrated influence skills at all levels
- Capable of designing risk mitigation and management processes
