System Architect (Document AI)

Main Purpose:

Trafigura is undergoing an exciting Digital Transformation and developing innovative technologies to push the boundaries in Commodities Trading. The Document AI team is a key pillar of this initiative, unlocking the data-rich proprietary documents that pass through our firm to enable high value process optimization and data science use cases.

We are seeking a System Architect to co-own the technical vision for our Document AI platform and help bring it to life. You will collaborate closely with our Document AI Lead, creating an industry-leading document platform powering our workflows and democratizing data for business and technical users.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

• 3+ years of experience developing AI systems
• 7+ years of experience developing advanced analytic workflows in an enterprise environment
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture
• Experience with MLOps and related tooling (e.g. MLFlow, Bedrock, Docker)
• Experience developing trustworthy systems including security, identity management, reliability, observability and testing
• Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and data engineering (e.g. Airflow)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)

Key Responsibilities

• Have a significant impact on the design, development, and operations of our Document AI platform
• Ensure compatibility with Trafigura's wider technology ecosystem and drive alignment with key stakeholders
• Lead discussions on architectectural trade-offs including build vs buy
• Develop design rules and guidelines for developers and improving consistency through code reviews
• Prototype and implement new technology to continuously improve the Document AI platform
• Engage with industry partners to understand alternative solutions and drive change when needed
• Actively contribute to engineering culture through mentorship and advocacy of strong engineering practices
• Example projects you might own in the first 6 months include:
  • Implement LLM serving framework to improve model throughput
  • Implement event-driven processing to improve real-time information and optimize cloud spend
  • Deploy search capabilities for proprietary document store

• You will work closely with the Digital Transformation Team to understand business requirements and ensure that the Document AI platform continuously meets and exceeds their evolving needs.
• You will work directly with Business users in our front, middle and back offices to build trust and support their business requirements.
• You will support the Data Science & Engineering teams as a Centre of Excellence for Document AI related technology, providing support in the form of knowledge sharing and tooling.
• You will work closely with IT to ensure that the Document AI technology stack remains compatible within a wider technology ecosystem.
