Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment.    60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low and paperwork is unduly burdensome. With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need—and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.
About the role:As a Data Engineer, your main goal is to help build and maintain the data infrastructure (Pipelines, Warehouse, Integrations, Data Models) for our organization. You will also help contribute to the continuous improvement of our development workflows and processes and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including, Product, Infrastructure and Operations teams to deliver clear outcomes. One of the initial focuses you will have is around enabling and sustaining our Referrals program, which enables third party organizations to refer potential patients to Talkiatry.

You will:

  • Architect and build new innovative data solutions that will interact with both internal and external APIs and our Data Warehouse
  • Contribute to the monitoring of the overall health and integrity of Data Pipelines and data systems
  • Support and maintain our existing DBT Data Models and Snowflake Data Warehouse
  • Work closely with the infrastructure team to ensure we have the infrastructure we need to support integrations with external partners
  • Create custom data products for production-grade system integrations as needed
  • Ingest new data sources into the data warehouse and create Reverse ETL solutions as needed
  • Migrate independently scheduled tasks and pipelines into Airflow DAGs

You have:

  • Technical Excellence – You know that expertise in technology is a journey, not a destination. You know industry best-practices, and you’re learning how they change over time. You build on your hands-on experience by learning how and where the field is advancing.
  •  “Strong Opinions, Loosely Held” – You look at solutions in terms of their trade-offs, and you recognize when to apply common design and architectural patterns, but you’re always learning how different contexts can demand different solutions.
  • Collaboration – You believe that teams can be greater than the sum of their parts when everyone is invited to the table. You know that inclusion is proactive, and you support your teammates to help them do their best work.
  • Outcomes Over Outputs – You believe that the technology is a means to an end, and you keep an eye out for the simplest solution to the problem.

You also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar is preferred but not required
  • 2+ years' experience working as a Data, Platform, or Integrations Engineer
  • 2+ years’ experience as a developer, Python preferred but other language (Java, Scala, …) experience is fine too
  • Advanced SQL
  • Experience building integrations for production use
  • Experience with Data Modeling and DBT is required
  • 2+ years' experience working with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
  • Familiarity with stream-based and XML data formats and protocol
  • Experience using common paradigms like publish/subscribe to implement integrations with APIs and Message Queues
  • Familiarity working with cloud-native services (such as serverless functions or k8s), preferably in a major cloud provider (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as: GitHub Actions, Jenkins or CircleCI, is a plus but not required
  • Experience working with ETL tools (e.g. Fivetran, Rivery, Stitch, etc.), is a plus but not required
