About the role

The Director of Product Analytics in Engineering is a key leadership position within our organization, responsible for driving product analytics strategy and optimizing the product development lifecycle through product data insights. This is an engineering role and is pivotal in steering our organization through the integration of advanced analytics, including generative AI, IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), Digital twins and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), into our products and services. Your leadership will be crucial in creating product analytics-driven revenue models & prognostics. Craft a strategic roadmap that resonate across various engineering teams, along with, digital platforms, and aftermarket functions for driving innovation and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Data Analytics Associate Director, you’ll be responsible for:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute the product analytics roadmap aligned with business objectives
  • Provide strategic direction for the product analytics team within the engineering department. 
  • Oversee the integration of advanced analytics tools and platforms across the enterprise
  • Lead the development and implementation of analytics frameworks, methodologies, and best practices within the engineering organization
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish strategic priorities and initiatives, including the university partnerships, start-ups, industry consultants to formulate foot print strategies
  • Active participation in industry bodies and represent Carrier

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, digital, & services to ensure alignment and prioritize feature development based on product data driven insights especially for Intelligent & Sustainable buildings and cold chain solutions
  • Act as a liaison between the engineering and data science / digital teams to leverage advanced analytics techniques for product improvement, connectivity and cloud deployment

Performance Measurement and Reporting:

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards and reports to track product performance, user engagement, and business metrics and drive continuous improvement
  • Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on the impact of product analytics initiatives and recommendations for improvement
  • Improve overall system design, qualification, installation, commissioning, operations and maintenance

Team Development and Management:

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product analysts, data engineers, and data scientists
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration
  • Provide coaching and support to team members to help them achieve their professional goals and objectives

Technologies:

  • Possess deep technical expertise in modeling, product analytics, machine learning algorithms and techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, clustering, and natural language processing (NLP)
  • Lead the development and implementation of a forward-looking product analytics strategy that leverages physics-based models, generative AI, reinforcement learning, deep learning, IIoT, and AIoT
  • Architect and refine analytics-driven revenue models, demonstrating a clear link between analytics capabilities and financial performance
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and tools to enhance the company's product analytics capabilities
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling techniques, including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and predictive modeling
  • Knowledge of data governance principles, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and best practices for ensuring data security and compliance
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for deploying and scaling analytics solutions
  • Understanding of data integration techniques and experience working with APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for accessing and integrating data from external sources

Requirements

  • Advanced degree(s) in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Overall 15+ years of industry experience.  Proven leadership track record of 5+ years in product analytics, preferably within an engineering or technology-driven organization and in the disciplines of mechanical and controls
  • Extensive experience in physics and statistical based modeling techniques, machine learning, with proven application in product and service enhancements
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and familiarity with data analysis libraries and tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Expertise in Simulation techniques and tools standardization
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to drive decisions and organizational change
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and product development processes
  • Proven track record of developing strategic approaches to product lifecycle and aftermarket solutions
  • Leadership skills to inspire and manage diverse global teams in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
