Senior Data Scientist

Are you interested in working with a dynamic team of Innovators, AI engineers, and data scientists at the forefront of developing AI/ML applications for the Department of Defense?  KBR’s Defense Systems Engineering Division is looking to add a Senior Data Scientist to our Advanced Analytics and Cloud Program (contingent upon funding). The Senior Data Scientist will sit primarily on-site (~3-4x a week) at Fort Belvoir, situated between Alexandria and Woodbridge, VA.  The remaining days may be remote.

The Advanced Analytics and Cloud program supports government customers within the Department of Defense (DoD) on various projects to develop solutions incorporating technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence (ML/AI), robotic process automation (RPA), and cloud infrastructure. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Work with government stakeholders to understand user requirements, develop technology recommendations, and implement solutions. 
• You will focus on researching and developing leading-edge analytics-enabled solutions, including applying smart algorithms, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies. 
• Build partnerships with government stakeholders supporting the mission/vision and technical roadmap of the Agency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.

Clearance: Active DOD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain.

Education:  Masters in Data Science or equivalent technical field.  

Experience: At least 5 years of experience, of which 2 years are in support of the US DOD.

Technical Skills:

• Machine learning/AI including but not limited to regression techniques, neural networks, decision trees, clustering, pattern recognition, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, statistical techniques, deep learning, supervised learning, unsupervised learning.

• Experienced using AI/ML platforms, technologies, and techniques (e.g. TensorFlow, Apache MXnet, Theano, Keras, CNTK, scikit-learn, H2O, Spark MLlib, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of big data technologies, cloud, and open-source software tools.
• Outstanding track record of successful solutions design in the digital space.
• Track record of innovation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PHD in Data Science or similar field

Experience supporting a DOD community (Scientific Research Community)

Prior civil service or military experience
