Our Gracenote Service Operation Support team is growing, we are looking to add a Data Operations Support Engineer to our team. 
Gracenote, a subsidiary of Nielsen.com is a world leading Metadata content enrichment company operating across the areas of Sports, Music and Video. Our mission is to provide enrichment to content across the above three areas. We supply the data behind the data and enable deep and wide media consumption insight.
Each of Gracenote’s verticals faces distinct challenges. From servicing billions of requests a day for the music business to providing the data powering global TV programming information in the Video business, to dealing with the dynamics of Real-Time Sports Data.

Role overview
In order to meet the 24/7/365 requirements of our customers, as well as those of internal groups like Engineering and Customer Care; Gracenote has created the Service Operation Support (SOS) team. 
With a goal of meeting the company’s internal and external needs, the SOS group is working to create a modern, scalable and highly automated platform for comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting for our heterogeneous infrastructure, and a large number of application components. Our customers demand accurate and up to date data, and the SOS group has been built to ensure that we deliver it.
You will, as part of a team of Engineers, be responsible for ensuring reliable and on-time product data delivery, as well as supporting the overall operation of the SOS group. You should have a passion for automation and quality, an understanding of the interaction between Legacy and Current Systems, On-Premises and Cloud and most importantly the desire to constantly make things better.

Key Duties

  • Knowledge of T-SQL and experience of performing database queries
  • Affinity with data and being able to troubleshoot errors in our data products
  • Log file analysis
  • Incident management
  • Working with Jira Service Management to log all technical incidents
  • Resolve all 1st and 2nd line issues to the best of your ability, escalating where necessary
  • Provide proactive and reactive service monitoring across all systems
  • Ensure management are provided with service updates regularly
  • Ensure all Internal technical support documentation is kept up to date
  • Work closely with management, DevOps and development team to execute on tasks
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Provide On-Call duties as required (part of rota system, meaning need for flexibility for working hours/on-call duties, on-call on average of 1 week-end per month)

Key Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field OR equivalent related experience
  • The ability to read and write various programming languages such as Java, .Net, SQL
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, Relational (MSSQL) and Non Relational Databases and Data Stores
  • Experience and knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Excellent written and oral communication, in English
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • A passion for data, strong attention to detail and a curious mindset
  • Ideally you will have Sports data knowledge or a strong interest in sports
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration services such as GIT, Jenkins, Bamboo
  • Knowledge of the Dutch language (Not essential)
Please note
This is a full time, permanent position. Due to the nature of the role and the support we provide, you will be required to be on-call on occasional weekends. No more than one per month.
Our Gracenote Team is located in Utrecht, The Netherlands, however this role can be fully remote. If you prefer you are able to work from one of our local offices. Travel to our Netherlands office will be required a few times a year.
