Due to the continued success of the Aiimi Early Careers programme we are thrilled to share 4 Graduate Data Engineer opportunities to join our 2024 cohort this September.

As a Graduate Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising data pipelines, ensuring the efficient flow of data from various sources to databases and data warehouses. This role involves working with big data technologies, programming languages, and data modelling techniques. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, design scalable solutions, and contribute to the overall data architecture of the organisation.

What does a day in the life of an Aiimi Graduate Data Engineer look like:

  • Develop and implement data pipelines to ingest, process, and integrate data from diverse sources.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
  • Design and implement data models that align with business needs and support analytics and reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data architectures and frameworks.
  • Administer and optimise databases and data warehouses for performance and scalability.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with data governance policies.
  • Utilise programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) and scripting languages to build and maintain data processing pipelines.
  • Implement data transformations, data cleansing, and data enrichment processes.
  • Work with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, and distributed computing frameworks to handle large volumes of data.
  • Implement testing procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data pipelines.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Document code, data pipelines, and processes for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in the field of data engineering.
  • Actively participate in training and development programs to enhance skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Familiarity with database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data modelling concepts.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with ETL processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
