Data Science, Machine Learning Manager- Retail Fulfillment & Inventory

Come help us build the world's most reliable on-demand, logistics engine for last-mile retail delivery! We're looking for a talented data science/machine learning manager to help us develop and improve the models that power DoorDash's growing retail and grocery business.

As a Machine Learning Manager for retail fulfillment & inventory you will have the opportunity to lead a team of data scientists building the algorithms that ensure the quality and scalability of our fast growing retail and grocery delivery business. Your team will use advanced modeling and experimentation methods to ensure that DoorDash’s millions of customers can get what they want, when they want it, at a fair price from thousands of retail, grocery, and convenience stores.

• Exercise your diverse skill set spanning business/operational strategy, machine learning methodology, and people management.
• Develop a holistic machine learning approach to solve a range of fulfillment problems including: inventory management (both real-time and long-term), demand forecasting, shopping/picking process optimization, and balancing the economics of a three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers.
• Partner with engineering, product, and business strategy leaders to help us grow a multi-billion dollar retail delivery business.
• Grow and mentor a team of machine learning and data science experts.
• Find new ways to leverage diverse data sources, sophisticated models, and flexible experimentation to create a world class shopping and dashing experience.

• 2+ years of industry experience hiring and managing teams of data scientists / machine learning engineers.
• 6+ years of industry experience developing machine learning models with business impact.
• Familiarity with machine learning methods for logistics, fulfillment, and inventory management.
• Machine learning background in Python; experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and familiarity with any of NLP, computer vision, and reinforcement learning are a plus.
• Experience shipping production ML models and designing sophisticated experimentation techniques.
• M.S., or PhD. in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or other quantitative field
