Summary

As a Junior Intelligence Engineer within our Technical Intelligence team, you embody curiosity about blockchain technology and thrive in tackling open-ended problems with a keen problem-solver attitude. In this dynamic role, you are at the forefront of scouting the blockchain industry, identifying emerging trends, projects, and assisting in technical due diligence for potential strategic partnership opportunities. Under the mentorship of our Senior Intelligence Engineer, you will navigate through a wealth of sources—including documentation, whitepapers, codebases, and social media—to extract and analyze vital information.

Your responsibilities include generating technical reports that guide executive decision-making, leveraging your analytical skills and coding expertise to uncover complex insights, and effectively communicating these findings to stakeholders. You will play a crucial role in shaping our company's strategy and partnerships by providing in-depth analyses and comprehensive overviews of blockchain technologies and their applications. Commitment to continuous learning is essential, as is your contribution to data pipeline support and collaborative efforts to deliver actionable intelligence.

Collaborating closely with teams across Engineering, Research, Strategy, and Product divisions, your work will influence our strategic direction, ensuring we stay ahead in the ever-evolving blockchain landscape. Duties

  • Evaluating competing blockchain architectures and performance under various dimensions such as security, scalability, decentralization, interoperability, throughput vs latency
  • Extrapolating required information from a multitude of sources such as documentation, whitepapers, blockchain explorers, codebases, GitHub activity, social media and support forums.
  • Investigating and explaining in detail complex technical topics such as p2p consensus algorithms, DeFi protocols, zk-Proofs, self-sovereign-identity, layer 2 architectures, zkVMs, trusted execution environments
  • Creating technical reports for executives that give a comprehensive evaluation of projects under multiple dimensions such as level of tech readiness, software stack quality, code hygiene practices, innovation, business traction
  • Using clear, concise and technically appropriate language
  • Communicating closely with stakeholders to clarify their requests and expectations, ensuring the delivery of accurate and insightful reports and building relationships.
  • Continuous delivery by means of 2 week timeboxed work slots
  • Internal broadcast and advertising of findings
  • Proactively engage in continuous learning to maintain and update a wide breadth of knowledge in blockchain technology and its applications
  • Support team members working on data pipelines by providing domain knowledge and guidelines on which information and data to prioritize

Requirements

Key Competencies 

  • Solid understanding of blockchain basics such as consensus and smart contracts
  • Familiar with software architecture and systems design
  • Good coding skills
  • Ability to quickly read and get an overview of complex and highly technical texts such as library documentation and research papers
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in few simple words, both written and orally
  • Ability to deep dive into any source code repository
  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies
  • Critical thinking 
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Comfortable with open ended problems


Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of distributed systems and cryptography
  • High-level technical understanding of one or more advanced blockchain topics such as zk-Proofs, zk-SNARKs, L2s, MPC, DEXs, stablecoins, BFT consensus
  • Knowledge in various programming languages and architectures
  • Exposure to scientific research environments or partnerships, preferably  within blockchain, distributed systems, or security.
  • Ability to define, negotiate and follow a roadmap

Education / Experience

  • BSc or MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related fields 
  • 3+ years of experience in computing, with various programming languages and architectures.
  • A proven track of writing and publishing (reports, papers, etc.)  
  • Professional English
