Job Description

The Director of Business Intelligence – Visual Analytics (BI-VA) is an exciting role in our expanding Business Intelligence (BI) team within the Management Analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the design and delivery of powerful data-driven insights that drive business decision-making and strategy as well as leading the Visualization workstream within our Management Analytics as a Service (MaaS) initiative with responsibility to deploy and leverage a new modern BI toolset, including GenAI capabilities, to enable BI and insight generation.   

Partnering with colleagues across Management Analytics, the Director will report to the Managing Director–Business Intelligence, and will use data, technology, and collaboration across both Investment and Core Services Departments to help these teams with the decision-making process needed for their tasks. Within the Finance department, the BI team provides visual and dynamic advanced analytical solutions by offering an integrated and independent view of key investment and business metrics with self-serve monitoring reports.

As Director, you will be responsible for various projects that involve multiple stakeholders.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:

  • Lead the BI-VA team, nurturing a data-driven culture and ensuring high standards of excellence.
  • As part of MaaS initiative, develop and implement a comprehensive Business Intelligence Visual Analytics strategy that aligns with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Leveraging a “user needs” based approach, oversee the design and development of advanced visual analytics tools and dashboards, including the use of GenAI capabilities.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to understand their insights and analytics visualization needs and translate them into actions.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity across all Business Intelligence tools and platforms.
  • Streamline data collection and analysis procedures to ensure fast access to metrics.
  • Drive the use of predictive analytics and other data science techniques across the organization.
  • Educate and train staff on data analysis and visualization techniques.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends and adjust the strategy as necessary.
  • Manage and support the Insights Portal, dashboards and associated stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, Power BI, etc.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the industry's latest trends and technologies.
  • Experience working within the Agile and Design Thinking frameworks considered and asset.
