Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer serves as a key resource withing Global Data Engineering Organization in defining & designing Chubb's Data Integration & Management solutions to support Operational and Analytical Data needs.  We are looking for highly skilled technologists who are passionate about driving the design, development, and implementation of scalable data pipelines, and ensuring the effective utilization of data in the business processes.

The Ideal candidate should be proficient at solving business data problems utilizing industry leading data engineering tools on varying technology platforms. Also be equally comfortable working with Business & IT partners to understand the requirements for designing and developing robust solutions that meet the highest standards. Must have technical “Hands-on” experience in implementation of data solutions and related downstream systems like data lake using technologies like Informatica IICS, Databricks Python, ADF, Snowflake and other Azure Databases. The candidate will work on multiple projects for delivery of data solutions, including new development, maintenance, and enhancements. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, implement and support solution for complex data ingestions/integrations with enterprise data products.
  • Liaising with Product Owners, Technology Partners, and Architects to ensure consistency and standardization across data platforms while designing scalable solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders including Management, Domain leads, and Teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Own, create and maintain technical architecture documentation/process flow related to data engineering solution. 
  • Build data product leveraging strong development and programming experience in database management, ETL processes, data modeling, and infrastructure to developing APIs, front-end applications, and automated data pipelines. 
  • Responsible for ensuring enterprise data policies, best practices, standards and processes are followed. 
  • Collaborate with a team of onshore and offshore development resources to analyze, design, construct and test software development projects focused on analytics and data integration.
  • Elaborate user stories for technical team and ensure that the team understands the deliverables. 
  • Effectively communicate, coordinate & collaborate with business, IT architecture and data teams across multi-functional areas to complete deliverables.
  • Respond to data related inquiries to support business and technical teams. 
  • Deep dive on technical solutioning or troubleshooting with the Data Delivery Tech Leads and prod support Leads as required.
  • Work in an Agile development environment and utilize DevOps, CI/CD (Jenkins, Jira, Terraform, Ansible etc.) processes.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering/mathematics or related educational background. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 6+years of proven working experience in ETL methodologies, Data integration and data migration.  Databricks/Spark & Python hands-on development skills a must.
  • Skilled in backend technologies (Python, Java, Scala) & Front-end development (JavaScript, React, Angular).
  • Hands-on experience with database systems - SQL server, Oracle, Azure Synapse and Snowflake, Cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google), and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Experience with Informatica suite of product such as IICS, CDI and related utilities 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in learning new technologies with the ability to quickly understand capabilities and work with others to guide these into development.
  • Working knowledge/familiarity with Git version control.
  • Prior experience of Insurance domain a huge plus
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and product-management skills
  • Experience in Data modelling & query performance optimization
  • Experience in working with large-scale enterprise data environments.
