Data Scientist - Logistics and Warehousing

So, managing these operations in an efficient, cost effective way is about as important as it gets. Making sure our customers have a seamless experience starts here. While we’re finance teams, we work closely with operations at all times. Making this about as hands on as can be.

Our Logistics and Warehousing Division plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless supply chain management and timely delivery of products to our customers. We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our team and leverage data-driven insights to revolutionise our logistics and warehousing operations.

Position Overview:

The Data Scientist for the Logistics and Warehousing Division will be responsible for analysing complex data sets to uncover actionable insights, optimise logistical processes and enhance warehouse operations. By applying advanced statistical and machine learning techniques, the Data Scientist will develop predictive models, recommend process improvements, and drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, supply chain management, and IT to identify key business challenges and opportunities within logistics and warehousing.
  • Utilise statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques to extract insights from large, complex datasets related to inventory management, transportation logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Develop predictive models to forecast demand, optimise inventory levels, and improve resource allocation in warehouses and distribution centres.
  • Design experiments and analyse A/B test results to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed solutions and initiatives.
  • Build data visualisation tools and dashboards to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate data sources, automate data collection processes, and ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data science and logistics to continuously enhance analytical capabilities and drive innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience working as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role, preferably within the retail, logistics, or supply chain industry.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and modelling.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and optimisation algorithms.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib for presenting insights and findings.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
