About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to join our CDO data consumption team as a Business Intelligence Analyst enabling trusted self-serve reporting and analytics solutions for our data consumers. Your contributions will empower our Business Unit, Finance, Analytics and Executive Leadership teams with trusted reporting and valuable insights, enabling timely and informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of business acumen, data expertise, and reporting skills.   They will play a crucial role in developing scalable self-serve data assets, including reporting data models, performance dashboards and workflows, all aimed to provide reliable and timely decision support for our stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Requirements:

  • Lead consumption data product projects, analyzing end-to-end requirements and business processes for designing, developing, and implementing self-serve data products.
  • Collaborate with end users to understand data and reporting needs, translating requirements into clear requirement specifications and technical breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional CDO teams to translate business data stories into technical breakdowns and estimates, facilitating efficient prioritization based on impact and effort, and aiding in planning timelines.

BI Development & Processes:

  • Convert requirements into BI designs and prototypes, ensuring alignment with stakeholders and business needs.
  • Develop and maintain self-serve reporting data models and dashboards using Looker & Looker Studio on GCP/BigQuery.
  • Design and implement governed self-serve analytics products with LookML models and Looker Explores.
  • Create intuitive and actionable performance dashboards tailored for executives, finance and operational users etc., primarily using Looker Studio and occasionally Power BI.
  • Utilize Git for managing LookML files and development processes, ensuring changes are tracked, reviewed, and deployed systematically.
  • Adhere to best practices for code organization, documentation, and testing within LookML files to maintain code quality and facilitate troubleshooting.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and peer assessments to ensure adherence to coding standards and optimize LookML development processes.
  • Develop and Optimize SQL queries in BigQuery for data analysis and reporting tasks.
  • Utilize BigQuery ML & Vertex AI to integrate insights into Looker self-serve solutions.

Collaboration & Governance:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional CDO teams like Data Engineering, Stewardship, and Governance to enable self-serve solutions meeting user needs and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with the Stewardship & Data Governance teams to establish Data Lineage and Metadata Documentation, ensuring data integrity and transparency in self-serve products.

Training & Communication:

  • Provide training and support to end-users for effective utilization of self-serve data products.
  • Drive engagement and adoption among end users.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, data models, and analytical capabilities, with a focus on improving time to insight and actionability.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders clearly and compellingly.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with data platforms like Google BigQuery and data visualization tools like Looker.
  • Proficiency in Looker development, including LookML models and Looker Explores, to create and enable broad-scale self-serve analytics products.
  • Ability to develop intuitive and actionable dashboards that effectively communicate key insights clearly and easily.
  • Proficiency in Looker Studio for dashboard development, with Power BI skills considered a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in principled data warehouse design, data visualization, and data pipeline design and development.
  • Strong proficiency in writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries across large datasets.
  • Working knowledge of Airflow and associated Python data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, etc.).
  • Familiarity with BigQuery ML and Vertex AI is beneficial for integrating AI/ML models into Looker self-serve BI solutions.
  • Demonstrated product owner mindset, able to proactively understand customer pain points and deliver solutions.
  • Strong ability to set and reset priorities, work independently, and manage stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced environment.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to data quality and governance.
