Director, Data Engineering and BI

Calabrio is looking for a Director, Data Engineering and BI to support the transformation program and drive enterprise data management and business intelligence roadmap and governance.

What you’ll be doing (Key Responsibilities):

  • Lead the development of a usable information architecture. This may include a data model, associated metamodel, common business vocabulary, and taxonomies, which will then be used to guide solution development and achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio. 
  • Maintain enterprise-wide integrity of the data model by ensuring that data design and transformation procedures are implemented and followed. 
  • Monitor data accuracy and ensure efficient data flow between systems. Implement data validation and cleaning processes to maintain the integrity of the data. 
  • Collaborate directly with the business and technology teams to conceive and implement innovative and scalable solutions to satisfy various business challenges and objectives, including designing and implementing dashboards, alerts, and reports. 
  • Develop, enhance, and manage enterprise service integration (middleware) infrastructure. 
  • Meet scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner. 
  • Act as internal consultant to advocate, mentor, and change agent for newly implemented systems, applications, tools, and technology with special emphasis on business Intelligence, data science, data management, and data warehouse. 
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and security team to instill the culture of “Secure-by-Design” and ensure digital trust and cyber resilience in every aspect of enterprise architecture. 
  • Manage data engineers and BI analyst engaged with Calabrio through partner organization. 
  • Work with partner organizations to ensure technology operations are in alignment with enterprise architecture and assurance compliance requirements. 
  • Identify the white space to implement the most cost-effective means of achieving organizational goals. 

Success Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in gathering and transforming business requirements into a comprehensive technology solution definition. 
  • Strong team player – work with internal and external stakeholders to solve problems and actively incorporate input from various sources.    
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative working style. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to think “out of the box”. 
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud native architecture and implementation features (platform-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-code, multi-tenancy, orchestration, elastic scalability, service telemetry, and management.) 
  • Strong understanding of Service-Oriented-Architecture (SOA), microservices and serverless architecture design principles. 
  • Industry recognized certification – Microsoft Azure data engineering and analytics certification. 
  • Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite integration. 
  • Willingness to travel – up to 25%. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. 
  • 10+ years of data management and business intelligence experience through all phases of the project lifecycle from scoping and planning, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and going live; strong preference for candidates with extensive experience in agile DevOps.  
  • 7+ years of practical hands-on experience (e.g. engineering, coding, testing, etc.) in implementing data warehouses, data lakes, business intelligence systems, and extract-transform-load (ETL) routines. 
  • 4+ years of experience with cloud-based multi-structured data engineering platforms like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse and Purview. 
  • 4+ years of experience with Azure integration solutions such as Logic Apps, API Management, Event Grid etc.
