Location: Bangalore

Business & Team:

Technology Team is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

The Group Security (GS) team protects the Bank and our customers from cyber compromise, through proactive management of cyber security, privacy, and operational risk. Our team includes: 

- Cyber Strategy & Performance 

- Cyber Security Centre 

- Cyber Protection & Design 

- Cyber Delivery 

- Cyber Data Engineering

- Identity & Access Technology 

The Group Security Data Engineering team provides specialised data services and platforms for the CommBank group & is accountable for developing Group’s data strategy, data policy & standards, governance and set requirements for data enablers/tools. The team is also accountable to facilitate a community of practitioners to share best practice and build data talent and capabilities.

Roles & Responsibilities :-

You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA’s Values and People Capabilities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Specialist/Staff Engineer, 

  • Proven record of accomplishment of Agile delivery including leading and working on a project from pre-inception through to business and technical delivery, including the support and maintenance of delivered systems. 
  • Ability to lead, direct, coach and guide software developers. 
  • Driving pragmatic and fit for purpose solutions of high technical quality. Act as "Quality Advocate" for the squad, encourage critical thinking mindset and drive prevention of defects over detection of defect. 
  • Identify, define, document and advocate for the most appropriate approaches to achieve stated business goals objectives and deliver the product vision, whilst remaining aligned with organizational target architectures and roadmaps 
  • Provide tools, expertise, and knowledge to help squad gain a shared understanding of outcome and shared ownership of quality. 
  • Pro-actively looking for ways to provide faster feedback, including uplift in test automation maturity in the squad. 
  • Support the team in delivering quality outcomes within committed time frames. 
  • Follow secure code practice. 

SKILLS:

  • Stakeholder Management - Contribute to meeting Team financial plan and simplifying how we work. Effective use of practice time (simplifying, optimising, automating, tools standardization, integration, decommissioning, innovation). Productive and effective participation of team members across Crews and Squads (contribution to achieving quarterly plans).
  • Customers - Contribute to team being a trusted provider of data to the Group to achieve great outcomes for our customers and community.
  • Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss, and act on current and future risks. Effectiveness with agreed risk reduction actions.
  • Communication – expert oral and written communication skills with ability to lead discussions with a varied stakeholder across levels.
  • Problem solving – advanced conceptual, analytical, and critical thinking skills to analyse complex information for key insights and present as meaningful information to senior management.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by your manager that you have the capability to perform safely in line with relevant internal Bank policies and external regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience with expert level knowledge, with more than 2 years technical leadership experience, working with the following languages.
  • Spark, Scala, Hive, Kafka, and other big data technologies.
  • Experience in building and working with Spark ETL (Extract Transform Load) frameworks with Scala.
  • Experience working with Cloudera Data Platform.
  • Strong experience with Spark SQL and ANSI SQL.
  • Experience with building spark-based pipelines.
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud (working experience with some of the core services EMR, EC2, S3, Auto-scaling, etc.)
  • Experience with large migration programs and automating things to scale up migrations from on-prem to cloud. Hands on, Design and develop exceptionally reliable and scalable data pipelines and data platforms with comprehensive test coverage.
  • Deliver data engineering solutions aligned to core concepts of data design, preparation, transformation, and load.
  • Build and implement data pipelines in distributed data platforms including warehouses, databases, data lakes and cloud Lake houses to enable data predictions and models and reporting and visualization analysis via data integration tools and frameworks.
  • Experience working with the following Tools:
  • Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem 
  • Source Control systems such as Git 
  • Build & Deployment tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy 
  • Database – SQL, PL/SQL 
  • Monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics 
  • Awareness of the following Software Development Concepts:
  • Strong design skills around big data frameworks
  • AWS Architecture
  • Secure Coding Practices
  • CI/CD and DevOps

Qualifications:-

  • Proven Experience working with Agile methodologies.
  • A degree in Engineering / Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10+ years of Experience in IT Industry.

Desirable:

  • Recognised industry certifications   
  • Specialties: Data warehousing, Big Data, ETL Tooling, CI/CD, AWS /Cloud Services.
  • Experience in Design (Mapping specifications, HLD, LLD), Development (Coding, Testing)
  • Develop/Implement Test Strategy
  • Additional industry or product certification Tertiary qualifications in an IT/computer-related discipline  
  • Experience working in a security domain.
