Overall Purpose of the Role

Working with and reporting to the Global Head of Digital Transformation, under the Chief Technology Officer, the Data Strategist plays a key role in leading cross-functional data governance and enterprise data architecture.

Xodus has a requirement to develop and implement an effective data strategy and data governance strategy which enables the business to deliver sustainable digital transformation. Key outcomes of the Data Strategist include publishing a corporate data strategy, implementing and overseeing data governance in the business and advising on enterprise data architecture to meet the business's data use cases.

Our first and primary use case will be to architect a data solution to enable reporting of key business data. Data architecture and engineering support may be provided by our parent company and IT partner, Subsea 7.

The role is being offered with career and talent development in mind to enable progression and skills growth within the digital technology team.

This is a permanent full-time position (part-time considered) and we are flexible on location in the UK and Perth, Australia (Hybrid working).

Requirements

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build effective data management practices that ensure the accuracy, completeness and security of our data as well as developing and broadening the data management expertise within our teams.
  • Implement the data governance framework for the entire business.
  • Set KPIs and measure their success, reporting on progress, and business impact.
  • Leverage modern tools for meta data management, finding ways to automate processes and ensure data quality.
  • Consult with key internal stakeholders and support the build and use of data assets.
  • Work closely with data leadership, risk, security, privacy, data engineering and technology teams
  • Drive data governance maturity through hands-on implementation of data governance processes and tools
  • Support the development of data governance processes and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with information security and cyber security standards, particularly around customer data.

  • You will be enthusiastic for working with data and increasing its use across the organisation, focusing on making data accessible, consistent, usable and secure to ensure compliance and improve data quality for business users.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills, communicating objectives and delivering projects with multiple milestones.
  • Maintain strong relationships with technology offering and across the business ensuring our data management requirements are met.
  • Continuously innovate the methods for governing and managing our data.
  • Have experience in a data management, engineering, architecture or governance.
  • Have extensive knowledge of best practices.
