The Data Engineer designs, implements, and maintains the software and infrastructure for the Lumin Analytics data pipeline.  Lumin Analytics is a data analysis platform that allows financial institutions to gain insights about digital banking metrics and user engagement from the Lumin Digital banking solution.  Lumin Analytics streams and enriches data from the digital banking platform and provides dashboards and reporting to help financial institutions understand, predict, and influence customer behavior. The Data Engineer will also participate in project planning and setting MVP goals for the Lumin Analytics.  They will ensure that the Lumin Analytics product is scalable, sustainable and that cost effective solutions are provided. 
STACK:Change Data Capture with Debezium from Amazon Aurora Mysql to Amazon MSK (Kafka).ksqlDB for SQL-like data transformation and enrichment during streamingJava (Kafka Streams, ksqldb user defined functions, and single message transforms) for custom transformations during streaming.Streaming from MSK to Amazon Redshift for enrichment and querying.Infrastructure-as-code methodology with all AWS resources defined in Terraform and stored in a git repository.Services running in Docker containers on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS)Python on AWS Lambda and AWS Glue for some data processing, enrichment, and pipeline automation.Test driven development with pytest, unittest, and JUnit.Agile/Scrum development process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and development of the architecture of Lumin Analytics.Management of the data pipeline.Work with the Security team to ensure that Lumin Analytics meets regulatory and compliance requirements .Troubleshooting issues with the project.Code reviews and architecture reviews.Collaborating with project stakeholders, and advocating for project resources with the appropriate senior leadership team members.
REQUIREMENTS:Lumin is intentional about maintaining a kind, cooperative, and courteous work environment, and it’s important for candidates to have these qualities.Software engineering experience, Python preferred.Understand data and awareness in data movements/structure, ability to troubleshoot data challenges.Ability to design and implement data pipelines with our stack.Proficiency with the unix/linux command line interface.Ability to work in and contribute to an infrastructure-as-code environment.Docker container experience. Terraform experience. Proficiency with git version control.Ability to use SQL to create complex data queries and procedures.Ability to learn quickly and commitment to continually improve yourself.Excellent at working independently, handling ambiguity, and balancing competing priorities.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for participating in code reviews and design meetings.Cloud Experience. AWS is preferred, but Google Cloud and Azure are also of interest.Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.Knowledge of distributed systems and parallel programming concepts including race conditions, concurrency, producers/consumers, and deadlock. 

Desired Skills:Experience with python libraries for data processing and parallel computation including pandas, pyarrow, pyspark, awswrangler, and boto3Experience working with big data tools like Spark, Hadoop, or Hive.Experience with both relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, DynamoDB, etc.Experience with libraries for quality assurance such as Great Expectations or deequ.Understanding of file formats including YAML, JSON, Avro, and Parquet.Knowledge of best practices for configuring Source and Sink connectors.Hands on experience with Kafka broker sizing, topic sizing, h/w sizing, performance monitoring, broker security, topic security, consumer/producer access management (ACL)Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
