Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Atticus is seeking a machine learning specialist to join our small, high-performance team reporting directly to the engineering co-founders.

About us

We build tools for documents that matter—bet-the-house documents where companies suffer significant reputational damage or face lawsuits if mistakes are made. Our first product, a document review platform, is relied on by the largest law firms and listed companies in both Australia and the UK to fact check their disclosures before publication.

Not all problems lend themselves to ML solutions, and for many software companies ML is a hammer ever in search of a nail. Our customers are fundamentally knowledge workers, and do a lot of retrieval, summarisation, and analysis of complex, semi-structured documents. They’ve long wanted better ways of doing that work, and many of those workflows map very well to the strengths of large language models.

Requirements

We are looking for an expert in (ideally language-based) machine learning, who also has a mature engineering mindset and can own features end to end. You should not only be able to select and tune the right technology, but also consider what it takes for your solution to survive in production, all while keeping the end user in mind. In other words, we are looking for a product-minded engineer with a spike in ML. 

Technology stack: AWS + terraform, PostgreSQL, node.js + express.js API server, python for async jobs, typescript + react.js + redux client.
