Data Analyst Intern

We’re looking for a data analyst intern to join Perchwell’s data team. Data is integral to what we’re building at Perchwell –  it’s at the core of our product. We’re seeking an intern to help us in our overall data efforts.

Among various responsibilities, the data team plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing data ingestion and mapping and in upholding the platform’s reliability and integrity. In addition, the team works to address data anomalies–flagged internally or by clients–and tailors reports for stakeholders on business intelligence.

This role has a significant impact on how we process and visualize data, the lifeblood of our platform. The learning curve is very steep so the ideal candidate must be motivated to learn quickly. 

What’s We’re Looking For:

  • Availability to work up to 40 hours per week in our NYC office for 3 months during the summer. There is the potential to extend the position into the fall on a part-time basis. 

  • Currently pursuing or having completed a bachelor's degree in a relevant analytics field

  • Applicable coursework and/or relevant experience related to analysis and critical thinking for effectively interpreting data  

What You’ll Do:

  • Daily data review and clean up – Our data comes in through a multitude of sources, which require a watchful eye to observe trends and patterns

  • Work alongside web developers via pair programming to implement beneficial changes to the platform

  • Think about the data creatively to reduce time spent processing individual nodes

  • Drive the software platform backend and strive to build a more comprehensive database

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to review and check data as new features, markets and initiatives are rolled out

  • Collaborate with engineers, product, & customer success teams to identify existing or new problems then come up with solutions to address the issues

  • Identify projects and initiatives to improve data and be more efficient when expanding to new markets

  • Contribute to the development of something new in the real estate field

Required for the Role:

  • Strong skills using data processing & data visualization software (at a minimum: Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, basic Python, and SQL)

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Attention to detail in repetitive data tasks

  • Root cause analysis skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with others 

  • Ability to develop and test hypotheses around data trends to drive platform level change

  • Ability to work from our NYC office 5 days per week during the summer (typical office hours are 10am-6pm)

Projects we’ve tackled in the past:

  • Quarterly market reports for major real estate brokerages

  • Coding and implementing data quality checks

  • Automating queries for continuous data improvement

  • Correcting data quality reports

  • Designing a new interface for defining and documenting incorrect unit floor numbers in buildings  

  • Creating a system to designate private outdoor space for individual units 

  • Research and compile neighborhood boundaries for geographic shape files

Salary Range:
$20 per hour
