Job Description

The Role

The Firm has unrivalled scale and depth of legal resources across the three key markets of the Americas, Asia and Europe and focuses on the core areas of commercial activity: capital markets; Corporate and M&A finance and banking; real estate; tax, pensions, and employment; litigation and dispute resolution, through the lens of its leading position across a number of strategic sectors.

The Firm operates through committees to steer the Firm's decision making to align with our global strategy. The Clients, Markets and Products Committee is designed to focus on "One Firm" client centric growth which is co-led by the Global Clients, Markets and Products ("CMP") Partner and Chief Client Officer ("CCO"). The stated aim is to create a "clients first" culture and ensure we collaborate around our clients to deliver the highest quality legal services from practice area, product and sector specialists.

To achieve this, it is critical we deploy our resources, data, partner insight and client listening to ensure we continually improve and refine our client offering. The Global Operations and Business Transformation Committee focuses on the Firm's operational strategy to ensure it is closely aligned to the client strategy and is designed to further improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of our operations.

Underpinning our plans for growth, is our ambition to grow and develop our client relationships, by delivering through a client first culture of collaboration and outstanding client experience. Our Global Client Insights and Business Intelligence team will lead our efforts in leveraging data and insights to drive strategic decisions and enhance our client relationships.

The Senior Client Insights & Business Intelligence Manager is a key role which will support the Global Head of Client Insights and Business Intelligence and the broader Client & Market Development (CMD) function. The role will support the development and execution of comprehensive client and business intelligence strategy that empowers our Firm to make data-driven decisions, optimize client engagement, and drive business growth. This role will include close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of business intelligence initiatives on a global scale.

Who you will work with

The Senior Client Insights & Business Intelligence Manager will collaborate with various business professional departments and practice areas including; Business Development (CMD), Brand and Marketing (BCM), Knowledge (KETL), Finance and IT (general systems, legal technology and data science) to align client and business intelligence efforts with wider Firm goals.

What you will be responsible for

Strategy:

Further develop the strategy set out by the CCO and Global Head of Client Insights and Business Intelligence to:

  • Position the Firm to be equipped to proactively anticipate macro and geopolitical trends across markets to adopt changes in client strategy.
  • Create a deep understanding of our client base whilst ensuring that competitive advantage is maintained and/or developed by overseeing competitor analysis through the client intelligence teams, identifying threats and opportunities.

Client Intelligence:

  • Stay ahead of client research, providing proactive insights to the Firm and its client relationship teams.
  • Ensure a proactive approach to sharing insights on global sectors, and macro themes impacting our clients.
  • Identify, collect, and analyse data on client behaviour, preferences, and satisfaction to drive strategies for enhancing client experiences and relationships.
  • Track voice of client information and provide insights on opportunities for the Firm to improve its service offering or offer more capabilities to clients (cross-sell and collaboration).
  • Support the development of client segmentation models to tailor products, services, and communication strategies.

Business Intelligence:

  • Support the collection, analysis, and interpretation of business data to provide insights into market trends, competitive landscapes, and opportunities for growth.
  • Support the exploration of potential areas of digital or business model transformation affecting our clients, markets, and products through bespoke research and market intelligence, thought leadership and strategic industry and academic engagement. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define KPIs and performance metrics that drive operational excellence.

Data Governance and Quality:

  • Establish and maintain data governance standards to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of data assets.

Technology and Tools:

  • Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that enable efficient data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in data analytics and business intelligence tools.

Reporting and Visualization:

  • Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards and reports that communicate key insights and performance metrics to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Develop data visualization standards to enhance data accessibility and understanding.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams to ensure that teams across the network are strongly positioned to leverage off client and business intelligence activities.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • A demonstrable track record in a management role in a similar data analysis, research and insights role, deliver action-oriented analysis to support strategic goals, drive business decision-making and growth.
  • Ideally you'll have worked in a large global organisation. Law firm experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working effectively and co-operatively with senior stakeholders, across borders and in a matrixed organisation.
  • Strong project management skills.

 

Excellent commercial and strategic thinking

  • Strategically minded, commercial and astute.
  • Ability to use the right tools, resources and data to spot commercial trends that positively impact the business.
  • Ability to synthesise large amounts of internal data and use commercial analysis skills to understand how it impacts the business.
  • Highly numerate; with strong analytical skills, both from a numerical and conceptual view-point.

 

Communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation and written abilities, with the capability to convey complex data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • The ability to work effectively and co-operatively with senior stakeholders, across borders and in a matrixed organisation, is vital.
  • A positive and robust attitude to pressure and difficulties.
  • The ability to deliver clear and strategic advice to a range of stakeholders.
  • A confident, firm and positive approach; comfortable dealing with people at all levels in the Firm.
  • Strong listening skills.

 

Leadership and management

  • Experience of leading and developing teams.

 

Knowledge

  • An understanding of best practice in research and data analysis.
  • An understanding of the sectors, regions and economies in which the Firm operates and how sector and market developments may affect our clients.
  • An innovative approach: Experience in identifying and delivering the digital tools and resources needed to deliver insight, whether research, collaboration or client insights platforms.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR) is a plus.
