OVERVIEW: 

Skillsoft is on the lookout for a seasoned Enterprise Data Architect to enhance our dynamic team. We are seeking an individual who not only brings a wealth of deep and broad knowledge in data architecture but also possesses the leadership qualities necessary to mentor and guide our existing teams. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing data systems that are not only reliable and scalable but also cost-efficient and flexible. OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:

​Mentorship and Team Development: Act as a mentor to junior data architects and engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Data Strategy Leadership: Assist with developing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with Skillsoft's business goals. This includes identifying opportunities to leverage data for competitive advantage, improving data governance and ensuring data quality and consistency across the organization.

Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence: Lead initiatives to enhance business intelligence and analytics capabilities. This may involve guiding integration of new BI tools, developing advanced analytics models, and dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to business leaders.

Cost Management: Guide monitoring and optimizing data storage and processing costs. This may involve selecting cost-effective data storage options, optimizing query performance, and implementing data lifecycle management policies to roll-up, archive, or delete older data.

Data Architecture Optimization: Guide redesigning existing data architectures to improve performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. This involves cloud-based data storage solutions, optimizing data pipelines, and introducing modern data storage and processing technologies.

Data Lake and Warehouse Optimization: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data lakes, warehouses, or marts. This includes selecting the right storage formats, partitioning strategies, and query optimization techniques to support high-volume data processing and analytics.

Data Security and Compliance: Strengthen Skillsoft's data security posture by implementing robust data access controls, encryption, and obfuscation techniques. Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations such as GDPR and FedRAMP, thereby protecting the company from data breaches and legal penalties.

Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and trends. Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies that could enhance Skillsoft's data capabilities. Lead pilot projects to test the feasibility of innovative data solutions.

​SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• ​Degree in Data Engineering, IT, CIS, CS, or related field, or experience
• 10 years of Data Management experience
• Relational data modeling, e.g., star, snowflake, galaxy schemas, and fact and dimensional modeling
• Experience with high-volume data pipelines, ETL, ELT, etc.
• Production data lakes, stores, warehouses, or marts
• Knowledgeable about MPP systems like Snowflake or AWS Redshift, etc.
• BI experience, e.g., Tableau, Power BI, AWS QuickSight, etc.
• Experience with RDS PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora, Partitioning, Clustering, Query tuning, etc.
• Familiarity with messaging, e.g., Apache Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, AWS Kinesis or SQS
• Familiarity with NoSQL, e.g., Cassandra, Elasticsearch, etc.
• Data security, e.g., Access controls, Scrubbing/Obfuscation, GDPR, FedRAMP, etc.

Target base salary range for this job requisition is anticipated to be $140,000 to $190,000 annualized.

We also offer participation in the Company Bonus Program and full benefits. The company may modify salaries, salary ranges and/or Pay Plans from time to time as it deems necessary.
