Role Overview: 

We're seeking a skilled Data Engineer with a passion for sports and a keen eye for statistics to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring the seamless flow and integrity of large-scale sports data sets. You will work closely with our data scientists and developers, turning complex data into actionable insights that drive our AI algorithms. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines for real-time and historical sports data ingestion, processing, and analysis using Python and AWS services. 
  • Implement and manage AWS cloud-based solutions to ensure high availability, performance, and security of our data infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate with data scientists to understand data requirements for AI model development and provide the necessary data engineering support. 
  • Apply your expertise in statistics and data analysis to enhance data quality and the effectiveness of our AI algorithms. 
  • Monitor data pipelines and systems performance, troubleshoot data issues, and implement optimizations. 
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies in data engineering and sports analytics to continuously improve our data systems. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong proficiency in Python. 
  • Extensive experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Redshift) and managing cloud-based data infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies is highly desirable.
  • A good eye for statistics and experience in statistical modeling or analysis.
  • Passion for sports and sports data analysis is a big plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
