The role

As part of migrating and expanding our analytics platform we have a new exciting Data Engineer role, critical to helping us make more data quickly available and into meaningful management information and insight. As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for the end-to-end creation and maintenance of our cloud analytics infrastructure and MI outputs servicing all internal customers including the data science and e-commerce teams to warehouse operations and financial performance. This would suit someone looking for a role that is fluid and flexible and will provide some autonomy and accountability.

In BI, Data & Analytics, we’re the team in charge of the end-to-end data ingestion, curation, governance, real-time reporting, analytics and insights for the entire boohoo Group. We want to enable more automated data-driven decisions through Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We work with real-time reporting, keeping the business up-to-date on the brands’ commercial performance hour by hour, every single day.



What you'll be doing

  • Report into and work alongside the Data & MI Manager to design the greenfield cloud based data platform
  • Develop highly scalable, robust data pipelines transforming raw data into the enterprise-wide Data Lake and Data Warehouse
  • Design ETL processes to manage batch and real time based ingestion, data integration, cleansing and validation
  • Work closely with business stakeholders gathering requirements and delivering a solution from source data to production MI
  • Work with the Data Science & Insight team to help expedite and prepare data for analysis

More about you

  • Relevant experience in a data engineering or a data warehousing role
  • Solid SQL, Python and possibly Spark skills working with large and complex datasets
  • Some exposure of MSSQL, MySQL, AWS platform (S3, Athena, Redshift)
  • Some experience of dimensional modelling, delivering front end MI data a bonus
  • Highly organised and process driven
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Ambitious, driven individual who excels in challenging environments
  • Team player, able to work with multiple business functions to achieve objectives GCP experience preferred (Big Query, batch and streaming pipeline technologies).
