Summary / Role Purpose

Thus, through our enriching student program, we help develop the next generation of engineers and technologists.

You will develop our industry-leading simulation software while gaining real experience in your field of study. Each semester builds upon the foundational learning that prepares you for more advanced problem solutions. In this co-op, you will support our Cloud, Solutions & Enablement Business Unit to develop the next generation simulation platform for the democratization and re-use of Ansys technologies. This position is for enthusiastic computer science/data science students who are looking to apply their skills towards Multiphysics simulation orchestration.

This is a 40-hour per week paid position starting May 2024 and concluding August 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The primary work is surrounding the machine learning pipelines that can predict computational resource usage by simulations.
• This includes both aspects of typical machine learning software stacks: learning and inference.
• The learning aspect will include data modeling, collection, indexing, and efficient storage, as well as studying various machine learning algorithms applied to the specific problem under study.
• The inference aspect will include deployment of inference code into a high-fidelity low latency microservices deployed in the RESTful architecture on Kubernetes and/or AWS Lambda (serverless).

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree with significant programming experience.
• Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to university after the completion of the co-op program.
• Experience with Python programming in Data Science and Web services (REST, gRPC, etc.)  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- IDE experience

- Python Scripting experience

- Cloud-based computing

- Jupyter Lab / Jupyter Notebook experience

- RPC or HTTP Remote API Experience

- Web Programming Language Experience:  Angular / JavaScript / TypeScript

- Experience using simulation tools such as Ansys, MATLAB, Comsol, etc.
