As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology division, your role will be to spearhead a specific technical domain, influencing teams, technologies, and projects across various departments. Leveraging your comprehensive understanding of software, applications, technical procedures, and product management, you will manage multiple intricate projects and initiatives. You will serve as the key decision-maker for your teams and act as a catalyst for innovation and solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

  • Setup technical roadmaps to continue to offer service oriented capabilities with API based approach.
  • Roll up sleeves to get deeper into implementation code and perform ongoing code reviews.
  • Setup design patterns and leverage principles of distributed large scale system design to drive multiple designs within the team.
  • Drive constant innovation by performing POCs with hands on approach to arrive at optimal design choices and/or approach including selection of tools.
  • Showcase architecture designs patterns to senior technical stakeholders to seek required buy in.
  • Develop required functional expertise and drive the product roadmap for given product areas in close collaboration with product managers and the stakeholders.
  • Interfacing off with technical stakeholders as well as business stakeholders by acquiring required subject matter expertise.
  • Navigate complex and/or delicate situations to drive right outcomes for the firm.
  • Expose to creative project management and establish a process for providing visibility into team’s progress including estimates and be able to meet stringent deadlines as situation demands.
  • Manage risk mitigation and risk management across multiple programs and projects to ensure timely communication of potential risks and path to de-risk
  • Engaged people management including coaching, timely feedback to ensure fully motivated staff producing high performance output.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on data architecture concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Strong background in architecting, designing and developing large scale distributed solutions using cloud based approach.
  • Recent hands-on experience in designing and driving technical solutions leveraging Java, Python, Spark.
  • Demonstrable data engineering background with great understanding of open source tech stack as well as ability to work with large data lakes & databases.
  • Demonstrable experience in Service mesh with microservices patterns with API first approach.
  • Recent and proven experience of developing end to end solutions on AWS using EKS or ECS Fargate.
  • Ability to spot non performing code and establish performance first approach by establishing contextual best practices. 
  • Clear understanding on front end architecture using micro front end patterns using standard frameworks like Tuxedo, Vue etc. 
  • Have a keen eye to develop product roadmap both functionally and technically to continue to make the product more valuable.
  • Demonstrable strong negotiation skills with ability to read cross agreement under complex situations.
  • Must have handled large teams of software engineers with minimum team size of 12- 15 at minimum.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Any recent experience with Databricks or Snowflakes will be an added plus.
  • Consistent track record of stakeholder management at level both technically as well as functionally.
  • Any expertise with ETL and or driving large scale data analytics will be an advantage.
  • Ability to “read the room” beyond stated obvious and adjust and tweak approach as needed on ongoing basis.
  • Ability to make decisions under complex & ambiguous situations with little available information.
