Job Description

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) responsibilities as part of Product Reliability Engineering (PRE) Organization of VISA : You will be responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. In this role, split your time between operations and developing systems and software that help increase site reliability and performance. Site reliability engineering (SRE) fuses the software engineering and operations disciplines:

• Inspire and lead your team to deliver strategic and novel approaches that help optimize Visa’s approach to growth
• Standardization and Automation are 2 Important components of Job Responsibility
• Effective Root cause analysis of major production incidents and developing learning documentation
• Run Problem bridges/SWAT Calls by collaborating with others from different functional and technical areas and escalating as needed to resolve problems in a timely manner. 
• Build an inclusive team culture that is innovative and collaborative.
• Lead strong partnerships key stakeholders including product management, engineering, design, and operations.
• Mentor, coach, manage and motivate a high performing team of senior engineers, managers and set clear priorities to achieve goals and KPIs.

• Stay informed on technology trends and product roadmaps to make informed solution architecture recommendations.
• True adherence to Visa Leadership Principles (VLPs) with excellent communication, storytelling and presentation skills.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 7 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

• Design and Coding skills with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Scala, Java, Hive, Data APIs, Streaming.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in building large-scale applications using open source technologies.
• Relevant experience with DevOps, software design, Data engineering, architecture and ETL data pipeline development life cycle.
• Hands-on expertise with Spark/Scala or Spark/Java or Spark/Python.
• Experience with highly distributed, scalable, concurrent and low latency systems.
• Deep knowledge of Unix/Linux, Shell Scripting and writing SQL queries.
• Deep knowledge of all Data Warehouse related components (Sourcing, ETL, Data Modeling, Infrastructure, Reporting, Data Visualization) and multiple tools to support those components.
• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Should be comfortable facilitating multi-team activities.
• Payment processing background is a big plus
