Exscientia is a company that is committed to getting medicines to patients in the fastest and most effective manner. We do this by applying the latest research in Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and modern high-performance computational methods to transform drug design. Exscientia developed the first-ever functional precision oncology platform to successfully guide treatment selection and improve patient outcomes in a prospective interventional clinical study, as well as to progress AI-designed small molecules into the clinical setting.

As Data Engineer you will work on the continued development, maintenance, and scaling of the data infrastructure that supports Exscientia's deep learning image analysis pipeline for translational cancer research. Data is the lifeblood of Exscientia's AI workflows - by ensuring that it is reproducible, coherent, and accessible for research throughout the organisation you will be directly contributing to getting better drug candidates into the clinic and helping patients.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or higher in computer science or an adjacent field
  • In-depth knowledge of Python
  • Excellent DevOps/DataOps knowledge, with experience building and deploying complex data platforms in production environments
  • Thorough understanding of relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience with API development
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) tools
  • Experience using cloud hosting providers such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • Excellent communication skills


Ways to stand out

  • Experience with bringing software development best practices to a research organisation
  • Hands-on knowledge of automation data pipelines, scientific workflow systems, and their monitoring (e.g. through dashboards)
  • Adjacent data science skills, e.g. data analysis best practices in Python or R
  • Experience in event-driven data delivery and deployment
