What You Will Do:

Guidehouse has an exciting opportunity in our Defense & Security Segment to provide data analytics and modeling support. Our team supports clients in modeling projects across various subject areas, focusing on mission support areas within homeland security-related domains. This role will focus primarily on aggregating data sources, performing data analysis, and developing simulation models in support of the client’s mission. Project members are provided the opportunity to interact with our clients' senior management, develop technical skills, and work with a variety of different tools. The nature of our project requires self-motivated individuals willing to adapt to changing requirements and a proven ability to work well within a high-functioning team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assess complex processes and identify opportunities for use of data analytics and advanced modeling.

  • Meet with stakeholders, evaluate operational requirements, identify key metrics, and build and maintain models to support organizational goals across multiple mission areas.

  • Utilize client data environment to assess, transform, and analyze tables for potential model development.

  • Develop data processing and validation scripts to prepare data for modeling, validate data quality, and reconcile identified issues.

  • Build and validate simulation models, comparing model results to actual data to assess performance.

  • Incorporate data and model outputs into dashboards or visualizations using technology such as Qlik.

  • Participate within a team environment, be a creative problem solver, maintain a positive attitude, and proactively communicate.

  • Maintain a detailed work plan to include specific tasks, assignments, task dependencies, milestones, and schedules for all tasks.

  • Produce trainings, user guides, standard operating procedures, and other documentation.

  • Provide biweekly and monthly status updates.

  • Working at least once per week on client site with the team.


What You Will Need:

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative and computational discipline (e.g., data science, analytics, statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.).

  • TWO (2) or more years of experience in data wrangling, data analysis, and modeling tasks.

  • Experience developing dashboards on a data visualization platform (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

  • Ability to design and deliver solutions independently and work collaboratively as part of a team.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • THREE (3) or more years of experience data wrangling, data analysis, and modeling tasks.

  • Masters degree in a highly quantitative and computational discipline (e.g., data science, analytics, statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.).

  • Experience developing data visualizations using Qlik drive strategic decision-making for clients.

  • Experience developing Monte Carlo or Discrete Event Simulations.

  • Experience performing data analysis and developing models within a Databricks environment.

  • Ability to work effectively with complex stakeholder group involving multiple client reporting structures and interfacing with other model development teams.

  • Strong communication/presentation skills and ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong consulting skills: identifying and addressing client needs, building relationships, and driving initiatives forward.

  • Willingness to contribute to internal firm initiatives and business development opportunities.
