Job Description

This position requires a robust understanding and experience working in the space of enterprise data warehouses, business intelligence, reporting and dashboards. This position also requires  the ability and desire to analyze data and solve data puzzles. The ideal candidate will be able to create the bridge between project requirements and source system data.

Applicants must have enough technical knowledge to understand the complexities of development and to analyze data to determine the feasibility of business requirements. Applicants must be comfortable in front of various and diverse levels of business users and be able to drive them forward in defining reporting solutions and requirements that are consistent, well thought through, well defined and provide solid business value.

This position will have significant responsibility in driving business critical reporting projects at RR Donnelley.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers (mostly internal) to understand business needs, document solutions, and define business value.
  • Conduct facilitated sessions with customers to define and document detailed business requirements for solution development.
  • Analyze and understand the business data related to existing dashboards and data marts and understand how the data required for new requirements will fit into existing structures.
  • Actively listen during project meetings and clarify information as needed and ensure all participants agree and understand.
  • Develop precise documentation of prioritized functional requirements that can directly be converted to user stories, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
  •  Write requirements and acceptance criteria, ensuring there is a clear and concise understanding. 
  • Work with the development team to ensure they understand the specifications.
  • Create both high level and detailed project plans.
  • Communicate plans to the IT teams as well as customers.
  • Manage and drive projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Communicate project status to all stakeholders.
  • Drive collaboration across teams.
  • Address issues immediately, define alternative solutions and resolve conflict.
  • Make changes to project phases as needed to address changes/problems to original project scope.
  • Work with stakeholders to negotiate and prioritize projects.
  • Assist business with rollout and adoption of solutions.
  • Partner with IT leaders to prioritize work and resources.
  • Must be able to work independently and proactively find solutions to problems with little guidance.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Business Objects (or similar reporting tool), SAP Analytical Cloud or similar Dashboard/Visualization tools, SQL/Oracle, Toad or similar tools.
  • Experience analyzing and documenting requirements
  • Experience with project management required
  • Create detailed project plans (Knowledge of Smartsheets a plus)   
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate with vice-presidents, developers, data architects, infrastructure team members and peers.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to clearly communicate and document business problems,  data issues, possible solutions, business definitions, conflicts and requirements.
  •  A strong desire and ability to analyze complex data using SQL and/or custom reports to validate requirements feasibility and assist in troubleshooting medium complexity data issues
  • Able to apply broad business intelligence work experience and knowledge when coordinating project work or analyzing complex problems.
  • General understanding of tools and development processes used in the enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence and dash-boarding space.
  • Ability to manage challenging and busy customers, shifting priorities and high demand projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and time management skills.

 

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $62,800 to $111,400 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
