Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro is a leading autonomous technology company with vehicles on road today in California and Texas. The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.

About the Role

As a Product Manager focused on Autonomy Tools, your mandate is to accelerate the pace at which Nuro develops and ultimately deploys its autonomous driving technology. The role demands technical fluency, a high degree of self-direction, and a strong sense for value and prioritization.  

About the Work

  • Inform the autonomy roadmap. You understand how our autonomy software capabilities and limitations impact our commercial operations. You use your understanding of the big picture to define and prioritize the capabilities we need.
  • Champion safety metrics. You define a data-driven framework and KPIs to measure safety in a scalable manner. 
  • Evaluate our capabilities before deployment. You build processes to test our autonomy software against real-world behavior to determine whether we are ready for launch.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to safely deploy. You work with stakeholders across Systems, Autonomy, and Operations to establish near-term and long-term plans that ensure safety before and during deployment. You develop a process that is scalable in cost and complexity, and measurable in terms of efficiency gains. 
  • Continuously raising the bar. You identify net new opportunities and investment for improving Nuro’s safety plan and tooling. You define frameworks to prioritize these investments into near-term and long-term categories. 
  • Accelerate autonomy development. Work with engineers to improve tooling and workflows to increase the velocity and effectiveness of our teams. 

 

About You

  • Experience defining requirements, prioritizing roadmap, and launching new products
  • Proven ability to work across multiple interdisciplinary teams 
  • Deep problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes
  • Experience with originating and launching net new products 

 

Bonus Points 

  • Experience developing one or more of the following kinds of products:
    • Safety-critical systems that require significant testing & validation
    • “Hard Tech” products that have significant HW and SW components (Robotics, Aerospace, AR/VR, Computer Vision, IoT)
    • Routing, mapping, and navigation systems
    • Complex ML models 
  • Knowledgeable in technology development and product management best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a track record for delivering results in fast-paced environments

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $138,225.00 and $207,575.00 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
