Job Description

A Senior Data Analyst at Abcam develops, deploys, and maintains complex reporting & dashboards. Works with stakeholders to understand requirements and can communicate with the wider Data & Analytics teams to fulfil business requests. Has strong programming, data analysis skills and manages own workload. Understands company and business strategy and is key contact person for the technical delivery of one or more projects.

Hands-on experience with Tableau is essential and site admin level knowledge is preferred as this is the analytics tool used within the organisation. It is desirable to have a background in data visualisation and analysis and are comfortable working in fast paced environments.

The Senior Data Analyst role is part of the decentralised analytics team which is committed to partnering with all functions and analysts to deliver analytics and insights across the business. The team work very closely with other Data & Analytics teams so it is desirable that the analyst understands data concepts in data engineering, data management and data governance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understanding, influencing, and collaborating with stakeholders, users, and the business, across departments and teams to identify and define needs.
  • Provide support for analysts who build reports within the reporting solution.
  • Provide a knowledge exchange platform for analysts and data citizens.
  • Provide a company-wide catalogue of metrics and dimensions.
  • Own and govern the dashboard lifecycle process.
  • Prioritize the backlog of data pipelines (implemented by data engineering)
  • Ensure availability, accuracy, and reliability of senior management reporting.
  • Manage user licenses incl. onboarding and offboarding analysts.
  • Manage migration programs for transitioning between reporting solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Relevant master’s degree would be advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of experience with data modelling and visualization techniques
  • Proficiency in report generation using Tableau.
  • Proficiency using SQL or other query languages.
  • Proficiency in Python is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of delivering insights and recommendations that drive business value.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
