Our Data Team is made up of 80+ people, covering data engineering, data science, and data architecture specialisms. The team works with a range of public and private sector clients, building production grade cloud solutions focussed on streaming, graph, big data, and data science use cases.

Job Description

Due to the nature of the client engagements, every employee needs to be able to achieve Security Clearance. This means that you need to have the right to take up employment within the UK, do not have or require any visa to work, and have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years without any gap(s) totalling more than 6 months.

You should be able to easily commute to our London office.  For some roles/projects, travel to the clients offices will be required and the frequency is often determined by the client.

Key responsibilities 

  • Implement ETL pipelines and orchestrate data flows using batch and streaming technologies based on software engineering best practice
  • Define, document and iterate data mappings based on concepts and principles of data modelling
  • Re-engineer data pipelines to be scalable, robust, automatable, and repeatable
  • Develop data applications and services including exports, reporting, APIs, and data visualisations
  • Navigate, explore and query large scale datasets
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
  • Identify and resolve data issues including data quality, data mapping, database and application issues
  • Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems
  • Deliver high quality implementation and documentation for critical functionality
  • Deliver code, unit tests, feature tests, stubs and integration tests.
  • Operate in an agile environment as part of a scrum team and participate in sprint rituals
  • Work with team members to understand designs, functional requirements and triage issue 

Qualifications

We have a number of opportunities available from junior to senior level and we are looking for data engineers who have a variety of different skills which include some of the below.

  • Programming experience with Java plus other languages such as Scala and Python 
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3 buckets, AWS Glue, Redshift, Athena etc 
  • Experience with NoSQL & SQL databases 
  • Experience working with large data sets 
  • Experience building data/ELT pipelines 
  • Experience working across big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Elastic search etc 
  • Experience with Data modelling
