Senior Principal Consultant, Enterprise Data Architecture

London, United Kingdom

Company Description

Our Data Team is made up of 80+ people, covering data engineering, data science, and data architecture specialisms. The team works with a range of public and private sector clients, building production grade cloud solutions focussed on streaming, graph, big data, and data science use cases.

Job Description

Due to the nature of the client engagements, every employee needs to be able to achieve Security Clearance. This means that you need to have the right to take up employment within the UK, do not have or require any visa to work, and have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years without any gap(s) totalling more than 6 months.

You should be able to easily commute to our London office.  For some roles/projects, travel to the clients offices will be required and the frequency is often determined by the client.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to the success of 6point6. We welcome applicants with different perspectives, skills, life experiences and backgrounds, and are proud to have an organisational culture where employees can bring their authentic selves to work.

As an Enterprise Data and Solutions Architect, you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders - both outward and inwards facing - to define data strategies, offer CDO advisory services, and define data transformation roadmaps. You will be key in shaping the strategic platform design, evolving and improving it from where it is today. This is not a governance role, but a senior technical role.

Key responsibilities of the role are summarised below:

  • You have repeated, hands-on experience in designing and building data solutions, as well as shaping technology and platform capabilities for large organisations
  • You will be detail oriented where it matters (and know when that is), yet skilled in delegation when appropriate
  • Your previous roles are likely to have included a number of these job titles: Lead Data Solution Architect, Data Solutions Architect, Data Platform Architect, Big Data Architect, etc
  • You will have a technical background and will be keen and willing to roll your sleeves up from time to time, you may still write or review code or build proof of concepts for example
  • Data will have been a big focus of your work, you will have strong data modelling skills and be proficient with SQL and document based (e.g. json) data stores
  • You will have designed APIs and have things to say about large scale solutions and distributed computing concepts such as: caching, authentication and authorisation, schemas, REST, request validation, idempotency, partial updates and eventual consistency
  • You have an inherent sense of technical feasibility, and can propose phased solutions that progress from prototypes and MVPs to large scale production solutions.  From these you can build data transformation roadmaps
  • You will have experience of brownfield tech landscapes and the creativity to evolve them without leaving a trail of outages, tech debt, and ‘legacy but never switched off’ systems in your wake

Qualifications

You will have:

  • Experience working with industry standard API technologies, API design concepts and API lifecycle management and API Gateway experience
  • Solution architecture from enterprise to implementation / delivery
  • Extensive experience with data model design at conceptual, logical and physical levels, and experience working with semi-structured and non-relational or unstructured data
  • Database schema design and administration experience (for relational and non-relational systems) in a production environment
  • Multiple years experience working in / managing an ‘always on’ production environment
  • Service and data resilience and DR scenario patterns, design and planning
  • Good working knowledge of Enterprise security patterns and governance
  • Good experience of profiling, transforming, and troubleshooting data from a variety of sources
  • Good understanding of database scalability and resilience concepts and implementation practices
  • A demonstrable ability to use command line tool such as curl, grep, jq and sed

As a technology consultancy, we look for people who can deliver both exceptional technical solutions and work as true partners to the organisations we support. To do this you must be able to:

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, demonstrated through:

  • Effectively explain complex technical solutions to a non-technical audience
  • Writing meaningfully to deliver clear information, and guidance
  • Giving impactful presentations, articulating clearly key points

Demonstrate critical thinking by:

  • Analysing and evaluating information
  • Using information gathered to present solutions and reach decisions
  • Displaying familiarity and comfort with a breadth of technologies (appropriate to the level of the role) and an appreciation of how they can be combined and applied to solve customer problems

Work in partnership with others to:

  • Effectively manage both internal and external stakeholders to ensure synergy
  • Collaborate meaningfully with all parties to ensure outcomes are reached effectively

Whilst having experience in a consultancy is beneficial, demonstrable experience in working with clients/external partners in other settings will always be considered.
