The Data Scientist will utilize a blended approach of statistical, predictive, and optimization modeling methodologies to lead new analytical approaches and develop recommendations to solve a broad spectrum of Ensure Supply (Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain) challenges. The overall objective will be to imbed advanced analytical solutions into everyday decision support tools, with the goal of enabling diagnostic evaluation, predictive planning, and prescriptive decision making in everyday problem solving across the end-to-end ensure supply functions. 

  • Assist in the development, evaluation, and deployment of innovative data science solutions in support of ensure supply decision making.
  • Introduce Machine Learning methodologies across a wide breadth of business use cases.
  • Identify needed data and prepare data for model development.
  • Acquire an understanding of business problems and translate them into appropriate mathematical depictions.
  • Interpret the results, draw conclusions, and present findings / recommendations to appropriate groups to help identify actionable steps.
  • Act as an internal consultant by integrating with functional customers to identify opportunities, scope and define the business problems, and assist in the deployment of self-service tools and applications.
  • Engage in constructive collaboration with a broad range of team members from diverse functional backgrounds, by communicating complex ideas in understandable terms.

 

Primary Responsibilities – What You’ll Do 
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

 

Modeling – 

  • Develop advanced analytics applications from use case concept to experimental design to industrialization / deployment to end users.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance machine learning models across a wide breadth of applications.
  • Collect, cleanse, and understand complex data sources to enable proper analytical modeling
  • Research, design, develop, test, and implement data science methodologies across a wide range of business applications. 
  • Define and develop programming for self-service decision support solutions that leverage predictive, prescriptive, and scenario optimization tactics.  

Project Support – 

  • Participate in Special Projects, Pilots, Proof of Concepts, and Ad-hoc project work.
  • Participate in the evaluation, intake, design, and integration strategy between multiple Ensure Supply functions and data sources for varying Nestlé businesses. 
  • Support proper stakeholder management to ensure all parties are aligned and updated throughout project life cycle.

Integration – 

  • Design and build advanced visualization tools that will simplify the outputs of the models, with the goal of being integrated into a self-service operational model across the business stakeholders. 
  • Develop professional presentations and project status reporting appropriate for their intended audience. 

Training / Development – 

  • Train stakeholders to utilize and understand analytics solutions.

 

Your Team – Who You’ll Work With 

  • Work with a team of data scientists, Manager, Ensure Supply Data Science and Sr. Director, EA Ensure Supply Analytics to generate innovative, cross-functional solutions which comprehensively address the asks of the business.
  • Collaborate with Analytics, and Insights teams, and business functions across portfolio of analytics projects.

 

Requirements and Minimum Education Level: 

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or a similar field.
  • 1+ years of experience using various programming languages (Python, R etc.) to develop analytics solutions or machine learning methods and algorithms to address business priorities, with focus on consumer products preferred.

 

Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

  • Business acumen (strong understanding of how business operates, and how to harness data and analytics to meet business needs). 
  • Ability to develop and deploy advanced analytical models and algorithms that drive profitable growth at NUSA. 
  • Strong working knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (Regression, Clustering, Decision Tree, Neural Networks, Bayesian models etc.). 
  • Familiarity of MLOps best practices for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining solutions in production.
  • Proficiency in scripting in python, including the ability to write efficient code to automate tasks, manipulate data, and perform various operations using python libraries and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in developing analytics solutions in python, with hands on experience leveraging python’s data manipulation, analysis, and visualization libraries.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) in python and how to effectively implement classes, objects, and inheritance hierarchies to create modular and reusable code.
  • Proficiency in visualizing/presenting data for partners using visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or Streamlit. 
  • Passion for solving complex data problems and generating cross-functional solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good facilitation and presentation skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational and time-management abilities.
  • High initiative, self-starter, and able to work with limited supervision.
