Engineering Manager, Machine Learning (App Ads)

The App Ads Team is entrusted with the development and maintenance of a diverse set of Machine Learning models that are responsible for predictions regarding user install conversions after engaging with Reddit App. The creation and enhancement of these models plays a crucial role in our organization's efforts to optimize advertising effectiveness and drive business growth. We are looking for a motivated engineering manager that will help us advance our vision. Your Responsibilities:
The EM is expected to set the vision and strategy, plan and execute the team’s technical roadmap, hire candidates in areas of applied machine learning, data analysis, big data processing, iterative algorithms, backend services, to own and support building the related ads products..
- Experience with any one of the following:
- Ads Modeling experience (ideally conversion and/or app install modeling experience)
- [nice to have] Signal loss mitigation (through transfer learning, data augmentation, and/or ensemble methods)
- Architecting deep learning models
- Experience with mainstream ML frameworks (tensorflow/pytorch)
- End-to-End experience of training, evaluating, testing, and deploying industry-level models
- Experience of orchestrating complicated data generation pipelines on large-scale dataset

The EM is expected to manage a diverse team to focus on cutting edge ML technologies. The EM is expected to build, grow and organize the team in 2024 and beyond. The EM of the team will collaborate with different functional teams (PM, DS, PMM, Sales) and several engineering teams (ads prediction, ads conversion modeling, ads bidding and optimization, ads measurement, ads infra platform, advertiser success, ad events, ads ML, ads serving) to build foundations, interactive algorithms and ML models to achieve business success and metrics wins.
This role is for a seasoned engineering manager, which requires prior experience of people management.
This role also requires someone with reasonable ads background and domain experience in conversion modeling, data analysis, and applied ML.

Who You Might Be:
- 2+ years of managing ML teams
- 6+ years of experience with industry-level ML/deep learning models.
- 4+ years of experience with mainstream ML frameworks (such as Tensorflow and Pytorch).
- 4+ years of end-to-end experience of training, evaluating, testing, and deploying industry-level models.
- 4+ years of experience of orchestrating complicated data generation pipelines on large-scale datasets.
- 2+ years experience with conversion modeling.
- Experience with ads systems and recommendation systems is a plus.
