Job Description

Business Area Markets maximizes the value of Vattenfall’s portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's assets and sales positions. We offer power purchase agreements to operators of wind or solar parks, optimize 3rd party batteries and enter into origination deals within the B2B segment. We serve as Vattenfall’s single market access to energy commodity markets trading in electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates. We are responsible for generating profits by taking positions within defined risk mandates and limits. We are active across Europe with more than 560 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and Denmark.

BA Markets is now looking for a

Working Student Asset Optimisation & Hedging – Business Intelligence

for our office in Hamburg.

In Business Unit (BU) Assets we maximise the value of all Vattenfall assets through planning, bidding and dispatching of our conventional and renewable generation. In addition, we are responsible for the development and execution of the hedging strategy for the overall exposure of Vattenfall.

To support the ongoing transformation of Vattenfall’s portfolio in the light of the shifts of the whole energy system, our focus lies on increasing value creation and efficiency, driving the adoption of advanced analytics and automation and developing our capabilities to enable the optimization and steering of new asset types.

In this Working Student role, you will be working on tasks in the following areas:

  • Data collection and analysis with Python/MS PowerBI.
  • Visualization of results in MS PowerBI and presentation of findings.
  • Development and maintenance of smaller analytical models in Excel and/or Python.

Qualifications

Required experience and competencies:

  • You are a quick learner with an analytical mindset.
  • You have some knowledge of data analysis and/or business intelligence tools.
  • Prior knowledge of PowerBI and Python would be a benefit.
  • You are studying a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Science, Finance or Economics).

Additional Information

  • Physical presence in the office will be required
  • Working hours: 20 hours/week during university term, up to 40 hours/week during term breaks. Presence in the office will be required.
  • Duration: Minimum 6 months, can be prolonged to up to two years.
  • Location: Hamburg
