Data Science Internship: Data structure creation

Background Information

In Performance and Integration Department, we integrate and qualify the performance of ASML lithography machines. This means all subsystems come together and being assembled and checked to meet required specifications of our customer.
These checks are done by dedicated groups for each individual performance parameter. During day to day work, various tooling and approaches are created by enthusiastic engineers in each group. Having common way that these developments can share data and analysis will boost productivity and troubleshooting power within department.
One crucial step for this is to have general data structure that suits the need of these groups and provides an interface that they can talk in terms of data.

Your Assignment

This proposed assignment will help cluster' performance by providing basic building blocks of cross competence collaboration. Prototype implementation will be in MATLAB. Assignment entails:
    - Getting to know available in-house data structures and being able to demonstrate their functionality with example datasets;
    - Prepare and discuss requirement for general data structure that suits in-house practical use cases. Highly recommended to get inspired by implementation of available data structure in python (e.g. xarray, polars, and pandas);
    - Prototype data structure in MATLAB using object oriented programming and demonstrate its functionality for small and medium size data sets from different groups;
    - Writing clean and high-quality codes that is easy to use and understand; 
- Documenting the architecture of proposed data structure and preparing example scripts and creating knowledge transfer material.

Your Profile

To be a perfect fit for this assignment, you:

• Have background in Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics;
• Are a bachelor student looking to do your thesis (bachelor graduation project/thesis), or a master student looking to gain work experience (master apprentice);
• Have knowledge of MATLAB, python and object oriented programming;
• Have affinity with coding.

To be eligible for the internship, you need to be enrolled as a student during the entire duration.
