The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Associate. 


We are developing a smart robotic gripping system for vegetable harvesting in vertical farm environments. We're seeking a motivated Research Associate with expertise in mechanical design, building the embedded system, and control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a robust mechanical design for the gripping system, ensuring optimal functionality and durability.

  • Construct and systematically maintain the robotic gripper.

  • Design/implement control algorithm for the robotic gripper.

  • Fine-tune gripper’s operational parameters to achieve optimal performance.

  • Assist RF to prepare the project deliveries and milestones.

Job Requirement:

  • Master’s degree in STEM, Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering is preferred.

  • Experience in Python, SolidWorks/Inventor, Matlab.

  • Hands on experience on building embedded system using Arduino/ESP32.

  • Hands on experience with 3D printers (FDM, SLA).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
