Job Description

Your New Role

Our business has an opportunity for a Data Architect for a maximum tenure of 6 months to be part of a project team supporting JP2060 Ph4, a multi-year Defence program to deliver and sustain an enterprise Health Knowledge Management System. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and build of the underlying data pipelines from the source to target databases, synchronisation, and infrastructure in a containerized environments that can operate across security and organisational boundaries. Working on our Federal Government customer programs, your role is to lead the design and definition of the system architecture for new or existing complex software, systems design and definition of new and/or existing systems to meet customer requirements. 

The role will provide architecture leadership & subject matter expertise to client engagements focusing on customer requirements. You will coordinate design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies. Work closely with the customer architects to develop and recommend corrective actions. Provide technical guidance for the broader program technical team including database administrators and software developers and testers. 

Key functions of the role include: 

  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses
  • Analysing, planning, and defining data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data
  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors for the smooth functioning of the enterprise data system.
  • Set architectural direction, build consensus, and mediate conflicts providing technical leadership and advisory services to the customer and the program team
  • Ensure architectural deliverables meet schedules and estimates
  • Anticipate project issues and risks before they occur, and work with Program manager to identify and implement solutions or mitigations with relevant stakeholders
  • Work with the customer architects and peers, business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, product managers, engineers, product analysts and business stakeholders to drive a project’s progress and ensure success
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer on all matters relating to technical architecture for their allocated projects/programs
  • Develop and maintain models of current and future architectures within defined solutions.

Qualifications

About you and what you'll bring

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives. You will also have:

  • Extensive professional experience working in a senior engineer or architecture role within an ICT engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry)
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong leader within a complex organisation
  • Professional experience in delivering IT solutions, specifically associated with End User Computing and Digital workplace services with demonstrable record of success and achievement
  • Excellent knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, software and infrastructure engineering, interface protocols
  • Experience in Federal or State Government environments would be highly advantageous
  • Experience and certification/s in AWS technologies and solutions desirable

  • Excellent problem solving skills with proven ability to resolve complex technical problems and provide innovative and ingenious solutions

Due to the nature of work we do for our customers, all applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and hold or obtain an NV1 security clearance with AGSVA.
