Senior Data Analyst

Position Summary

Samsung Research Vancouver team handles a large volume of data generated by Samsung’s Cloud Services and mobile devices. The team is responsible for turning this data into actionable insights that allow our stakeholders to make data-driven decisions which create value to our business, customers and partners.

We are looking for a senior data analyst who is passionate about big data and delivering data insights to help the business meet the distinct needs of our customers. The data analyst will work closely with our data engineering, data science, backend and frontend engineering, product design, business strategy and marketing teams to make decisions on how we should invest in specific data-driven platforms and products.

Role and Responsibilities

• Developing data dashboards, data sources and ETL for the related business insights
• Analyze data in order to understand performance and behavior of the Samsung cloud services and operations
• Help us innovate and develop new product insights by collaborating with the teams across Samsung to improve the customers satisfaction across the world Works on complex issues where analyzing customer situation or business data requires an in-depth evaluation of variables. Exercises judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results
• Generate data reports and business insights using the latest ML/AI technology

Skills and Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Big Data, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent professional field

• 5+ years of industry experience in data analysis or business intelligence with preference from a product company
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Strong knowledge of Tableau data source and dashboard creation
• Experience with GCP services and Superset
• Experience with various AWS services (e.g. EC2, S3, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis Firehose, Redshift etc.)
• Excellent communication and team working skills

Bonus Skills

• Experience working with health data generated by mobile devices or IOT or Mobile Device Management (MDM) business
• AWS or GCP or data visualization related certification
• ML/AI related working experience
• Korean language skill

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $107,000 to $140,000 and reflects base salary only. Actual pay will be determined based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills and experience.
