About the team

The Data Platform Infrastructure team builds the data ingress, processing and storage backbone enabling engineering, AI, data science, analytics, and product teams throughout Zillow Group to use data to understand and delight our customers.

About the role

The Data Platform Infrastructure team consists of 6 senior software development engineers. They are responsible for developing and supporting data platforms infrastructure making use of data technologies including Spark, Hive, Airflow, Databricks, Kafka, Flink, along with other industry and internal tools.  In addition to the Data Platform Infrastructure team, there are two other development teams with Data Platform organization that the senior software development engineers will work closely with:

• 1. Governance team: This team provides guardrails for security, privacy, and data quality. They ensure that the data infrastructure and processes adhere to industry standards and best practices.
• 2. Data Authoring eXperience (DAX) team: This team focuses on providing processes and tools for data practitioners. They enable data practitioners to work efficiently by offering tools like DBT, Eventhub, and environment provisioning.

All three teams (Data Platform Infrastructure, Governance, and DAX) collaborate closely to provide Data Platform Environments that enable internal ZG customers to deliver high quality data solutions for varied use cases across all of ZG.
 

This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any part of Mexico, but preferably in Mexico City, as we would encourage attendance for occasional in-office events.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

• They should be able to quickly adapt to changing requirements and deliver high-quality solutions promptly.

• should have a passion for continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in the data engineering field.
• They should be proactive in exploring new tools and techniques that can enhance the clickstream data processing capabilities.

General Requirements:

• Familiarity with underlying infrastructure like Kubernetes
• Can they debug a service in an AWS/Kubernetes environment
• Has done a variety of support with different platforms (DATABRICKS is a huge plus)
• They’ve needed to piece things together - Had to setup various different tools associated with a platform and a solution. (Small companies that dont have an infrastructure team to support - they have to do it themselves)
• They will be in charge of bringing databricks into Zillow
• They will work with Streeteasy and Showingtime+ and work on integrating those data infrastructure into Zillows infrastructure.
• Consulting background could be very good in this role
• We are looking for problem solvers - people who are unafraid to jump into the problem and learn more are good!
• Big plus is having an aptitude for setting up common processes (scalability across multiple user groups/teams)
