The Role

As an Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for creating compelling, clear, and powerful visualizations turning large data sets into useful and meaningful information and presenting this in a variety of ways. We want our data to tell a clear story, highlight previously unseen insights, and do it all faster than we currently are, to enable optimal efficiency when making data-informed decisions. You will be an expert at translating statistical data and complex combinations of data that are often difficult to conceptualize and present this in ways that are transformative, understandable, and easy to interpret in order to spot patterns, trends, and correlations.

You will need a good business acumen, the ability to frequently engage with stakeholders across the business so that you develop solutions that add real business value and that support them in delivering on their key strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Engage in designing, developing, publishing, and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, data sets, data models and data flows.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements for Analytics and Reporting.
• Implement security in reports and dashboards.
• Provide guidance to front-end BI developers in the company.
• Optimize performance of dashboard design decisions based on underlying data.
• Ensure agile/scrum practices are followed during the development process.
• Gather, document and design data integration and data visualization requirements for workloads ranging from small to enterprise size.
• Provide technical recommendations on the development and implementation of data-related standards.
• Maintain expertise in skills related to dashboard production, like demographics, geocoding, and data enhancement.
• Develop Power BI Data models and recommend best practices for report creation and visualizations.

Skills & Experience 

• A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Development, Data Science, or certification in relevant BI technologies.
• A sound understanding of BI best practices, relational structures, star schemas, dimensional data modelling, denormalization processes, and reporting techniques including MS Power BI.
• Design knowledge and expertise in data visualization techniques.
