Lead Software Engineer, Machine Learning

ASAPP’s AI Engineering team is seeking an enterprising, talented and curious software engineer. This role will help us build the NLP services that are at the core of our industry-leading AI software offerings. 
The AI Engineering team is responsible for working closely with the research and modeling teams to create state-of-the-art NLP models for specific tasks, and deploy / manage them in a production setting designed to serve our customers at scale. Our NLP Engineers have deep ML expertise but also a product mindset that lets them think about the best way to serve our customers’ needs. 

What you'll do

• Develop NLP components that form the core of our product offerings
• Work closely with NLP researchers and the modeling team to collaborate on model architectures and innovation
• Work with our Platform, SRE and Data Infrastructure teams to architect, build, deploy and monitor ML services
• Follow advancements in AI and ML, and participate in discussions about them with the ML and research teams

What you'll need

• Strong architectural skills, with proven experience designing complex software systems
• Strong engineering skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Python
• Deep NLP knowledge
• Experience implementing technical solutions, tackling tough engineering problems to help build our products.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a field of science, technology, engineering or math, or equivalent hands-on experience 
• Desire to learn new things, work closely with peers from different teams, and open to teach and learn from others

What we'd like to see

• Experience building NLP services serving traffic at scale
• Knowledge of techniques for optimizing model architectures for faster inference
• Experience working on AWS and familiarity with CI / CD tools 
• Experience with Athena, Kafka and a strong background in databases
