What does the job involve?

Our Data&AI team partners deeply with teams across Smartly to ensure that our customers, our products, and our business have the models, data products, insights and automation they needed to make valuable decisions for our customers and our business. Our mission to ensure that the company strategy, products, and user interactions are powered by data and automation, using techniques like AI, machine learning, statistical modelling, causal inference, optimisation, experimentation, and all forms of analytics.

  • AI/ML Solutions: Lead and execute projects end to end, from exploratory analysis and concept design, to working solutions for customers and internal teams. Document solutions, methodologies, and assumptions.
  • Automation: Collaborate with teams to identify processes and workflows ripe for automation. You'll leverage AI/ML technologies to optimise customer and business workflows.
  • Integration: Break down data and process silos by designing solutions to seamlessly share data between our systems.
  • Governance: Actively contribute to Smartly’s data and AI governance to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with related policies and regulations.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Senior AI/ML Engineer, with a background in data and software engineering, to build AI-driven solutions and automation that bring immediate value to our customers and internal operations. In this role, you will work cross functionally with internal teams as well as partners to translate business needs into experiments, proofs of concept and actionable business recommendations. You will design, build and implement transformative solutions to streamline and automate the way we run our business. The Senior AI/ML Engineer role plays a key part to ensure that data capability and AI’s transformative potential is fully realised within Smartly.

  • Strong Python, Java, SQL and/or NodeJS knowledge
  • AI/ML engineering experience, including high proficiency with AI/ML frameworks
  • Knowledge with ML model training and model evaluation, including evaluation metrics Experience with Spark Data Frames and R is a plus
  • Data streaming experience
  • Microservices architecture experience
  • Strong architecture thinking
  • Expert system designer
  • Experience with highly and very granular distributed systems
  • In-depth expertise working with cloud platforms, preferably Azure
  • Working Dev/Ops knowledge, including GIT deployments and repository management
  • Proven experience working with big data, including strong understanding of Modern Data Stack best practices.
