The Head of Data Science is a critical and strategic senior executive role at 1010data where science and technology are part of our core platform and incorporated into the vision across our all our products.  With more than 25 trillion rows of data, 1010data is designed to scale taking on the huge volumes of data, making sense of diverse and varied data sets, and applying advanced analytics to drive value for our clients. Your role will be central to designing and executing our data and product strategy, as well as driving science into the company strategy, making sense of diverse and varied data sets, and applying advanced analytics to drive value for our clients. 

You will report to the Chief Product Officer and lead, reshape and grow a data science team responsible for further developing 1010data’s intellectual property used to manage data sets, develop data products in Financial Services & Retail and develop consumer insights incorporating predictive and prescriptive analytics. You will collaborate with Product Management on ideation, design, development, and deployment of additional AI/Machine Learning (ML) use cases in support of our existing and new industry verticals.  As the Head of Data Science, you will drive innovation by forming strong partnerships with business and technology leaders to drive customer engagement and improve the customer experience, maintain ongoing discussions about trends and innovation with customers, partners and broader data science community.  

The ideal Head of Data Science candidate will have a demonstrated track record of building high performing teams and delivering scalable data infrastructure and AI/ML driven solutions.  He/she must have a passion for developing a team culture that inspires excellence in driving business results through collaboration.  We encourage our teams to take end-to-end responsibility from conceptualization of ideas to implementation and then to measure the business impact to drive the highest levels of personal accountability.

• Continuously improve data management and quality practices providing data engineering with necessary data science libraries and services 
• Research and develop methodologies supporting the expansion of insight products using consumer credit and purchase data to deliver insights to our clients 
• Build and deliver a comprehensive ML/AI roadmap enabling a future business architecture processing and delivering data products and ML/AI driven products 
• Partner with business leaders and product managers in problem framing and conceptualization of ideas, develop consensus, and execute on a prioritized AI/ML roadmap for various use cases 
• Seek opportunities to exchange ideas and collaborate with our customers, partners and a broader data science community to share best practices, ideas and drive the innovative use of data to solve customer pains. 
• Encourage and evangelize the use of dynamically updated AI/ML models 
• Actively identify and manage model risks in line with model risk management policies 
• Collaborate to restructure operations to use data science in support of data engineering and operations designing a more efficient operating model 
• Partner with a cross-functional team of data engineers, machine learning engineers and product managers to launch AI/ML solutions into production 
• Lead, build and mentor data science team and collaborate effectively across 1010data team 

Education & Experience

• Master’s Degree required, PhD desirable in related fields 
• Significant software development experience e.g. delivering software not just ad hoc analytics, consulting and models 
• Proven record as a DS practitioner, not theoretician 

Knowledge and Skills 

• Passionate about building models and algorithms for predictive analytics and forecasting 
• Focused on the development of production ready science libraries and services 
• Knowledge and experience evaluating and integrating models to accelerate the deliver of value to internal and external stakeholders 
• Project planning and management bringing transparency to research and development efforts 
• Enthusiasm for coaching bringing team members through the learning curve and critically evaluating solutions balancing science and pragmatic software development to deliver value
