Job summary
eero is looking for a Data Engineering Manager to build a new team focused on data systems and BI from the ground up. This team will help eero unlock the value latent in its data by providing visibility into our operations, driving better business decisions, and empowering stakeholders to understand their business and customers in new ways. The team will be multidisciplinary across data engineering and analytics, and will work across a diverse set of teams, from manufacturing, to product, to finance, and more.

eero was the first product to bring a whole-home WiFi experience using mesh technology to consumers. Since then, we have continued to deliver more value to our customers through improvements to performance, reliability, and price. We are now looking to lead the way in making the connected home experience even better.

Key job responsibilities
As the first hire and manager of our Data and BI team, you will:
· Hire and develop a team of Data Engineers, BI Engineers, and Analysts
· Shape and execute a technical vision for data warehousing and data marts
· Standardize metrics and reporting across the organization
· Engage with stakeholders to build and prioritize a roadmap
· Help teams identify their key metrics and how to affect them based on their data

Success in this role will require technical breadth and strong communication and judgement skills. You will need to understand both the business side, and data engineering side of BI so that you can be an effective leader of the team.

Basic Qualifications


· Experience managing Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and/or Business Analysts
· Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related business/analytical disciplines
· 5+ years of industry experience in Business Intelligence, Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Development, or related field with a track record of producing actionable business insights from large datasets
· Hands-on experience with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g. QuickSight, Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
· Excellent communication skills to summarize insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication
· Ability to navigate ambiguity to develop and champion new ideas and creative solutions
· Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of coworkers

Preferred Qualifications

· 8+ years of experience managing Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists, and/or Business Analysts
· Experience working with AWS big data technologies (Redshift, S3, EMR)
· High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
· Ability to lead a team to deliver a project/program from scoping requirements through actual launch
· Demonstrated ability to write complex, optimized SQL queries across large data sets
· Proficiency in at least one programming language used for data science such as Python, R, etc.
